And let me tell you... I was blown away! So many great responses from the Familia... I've been in 7th Heaven the last couple days discovering new tunes and rediscovering old favorites... I wish I could share all of them, but here are just a few that stood out: "Wow! There are a few that take me back to the good ole days, but two of my favorites are "I Wear My Sunglasses at Night". This one takes me back to the carefree carnival days because they were always playing that song on the rides for some reason, lol. The other one is Lionel Ritchie's "Hello". My first bf and I's song". How sweet right! -Lori C. "I Wear My Sunglasses at Night"? Ha! I'm getting rollercoaster flashbacks just thinking about it. And Lionel Ritchie's "Hello"... what a classic. Such a sweet memory, Lori! As promised (though I know it's rude to ask a woman her age...) Sunglasses at Night is kind of a deep cut for anyone who wasn't around 17-18 when it was released.... It really was a monster hit for about a summer... then nothing... I'm gonna guess you're 64 1/2 plus or minus a year or two. Blink twice if I'm right! "Three songs come to mind for me: Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin, Home Sweet Home by Motley Crue, Chicken Fry by Zac Brown Peace! -Mike N. Those are some solid choices, Mike! Zeppelin, Motley Crue, and Zac Brown - you've got a song for every mood of the trip! Now... I've got my work cut out for me on this one Mike... I mean Led Zeppelin to Zac Brown is a pretty big range! How am I supposed to narrow that down? Well, here's my guess, and you let me know if I'm right. Stairway to Heaven has pretty much been a radio mainstay since the day before it was released... So I'm guessing you absorbed that one through osmosis. And Zac Brown is REAL recent all things considered. (Btw - Thanks for putting it on my radar. That's a FUN song...) So I'm gonna go out on a limb and say Home Sweet Home is the one that was actually hitting the airways while you were prime "road trippin" age... So... Drumroll.... You're 58. How'd I do? (Remember, if I'm within 5 years plus or minus, that counts as a hit! It's not an exact science....) "It’s not that this is my favorite song but one of my absolute best memories. My husband and I took the kids on a road trip from Michigan to go out west back in the late 70’s. We were driving through Colorado really enjoying ourselves and the view when my son said “hey there really is purple mountain majesty” . He broke out in America the Beautiful” and the top of his lungs. We all joined in.. oh beautiful for spacious skies for amber waves of grain. For purple mountain majesty…..we had to stop and get a purple rock which I still have. Thanks for the memory of that!" - Colleen Colleen, that's one of the most heartwarming road trip stories I've ever heard. Sounds like a magical moment! Frankly, I'd be cheating if I tried to guess your age based on America The Beautiful... but I just wanted everyone to get a chance to read your great story Colleen. Thank you for sending it in. "BORN TO BE WILD ~ Steppenwolf...is the greatest all-time road trip song!!!!!!! Getcher' motor runnin........" - Marilyn Born To Be Wild... Yeah, Marilyn! That one never gets old, right? It's like the anthem of the open road. Now, Born to Be Wild is a LOT like Stairway to Heaven. It's been everywhere for close to 60 years ever since Easy Rider... You could be anything from my age down to 23.... or anything in between. So, I'm gonna guess you're 26 1/2... No need to reply. I know I'm right! Just look at ya! Anyway, thanks for playing along everyone. Lemme know how you think I did.... I tend to be pretty good at this. And thanks for all the awesome song recommendations too! You're helping me build one heck of a summer road trip playlist! Oh, and don't forget - our Summer Daze sale is still in full swing, but it ends Tomorrow at Midnight Pacific...
