Man, you guys are really getting into this inflation-fighting thing! You're sending me lots of cool ideas, and I can tell you're fired up about it – I don't blame ya! But before I share some of those ideas, I wanna talk about something that's been bugging me about inflation. You know how they always say "the price of X is rising faster than inflation"? Housing, food, gas, you name it. But here's the big question: "what's rising SLOWER than inflation?" It seems like everything we buy is inflating faster than the so-called "inflation rate." It's like they want us to believe that inflation is just some made-up number that doesn't really apply to the stuff we need! So, if housing, college tuition, health insurance, food, and gasoline have all historically grown faster than inflation, then who the heck is measuring it, and how?! Inflation is wacky, man! It just doesn't add up! But hey, let's not get too bogged down in the details. Instead, let's keep sharing our ideas for beating inflation and saving some cash. You guys have been super creative with your tips, so I wanna share some of the great ideas I got from you right here: God bless you Tommy. You really outta be in a position to make decisions and run this country! I avoid using appliances during peak hours, buy in bulk with paper products, and use Subscribe and Save for frequently used items. I also take advantage of any coupons, rewards, and veteran and/or senior citizen discounts. - Kathy M. Kathy, I gotta tell you, I think I should be in charge too! (But I'm a little biased...) Shelby says it wouldn't be such a good idea... not enough time for naps. Hi Tommy, I agree with your last observations. We live cheaper than most folks, and got in the habit of eating out less often. A big one, is monthly bills! We never got cable TV. We have fiber optic Internet only, for just 40% of the cost of the full cable package. We can still stream movie channels, and for local TV stations (25 of them), we have an antennae on the chimney. This is easy and dirt cheap to install. This alone saves us about $2,000/year! -Mark J. I agree! It is crazy! Personally I like to give away my used clothes for free in my hometown! Especially any of my children’s clothes that they out grow, many children's clothes are stupid expensive. Shop at thrift stores, I like to shop at smaller retailers or small businesses because they too know how hard life can be financially. Not to mention farmer’s markets or flea markets. Grocery bags are great for small trash cans or on the go lunches lol I always try to pinch my pennies. Take it easy, man! I will for sure check out the deals! - Flossie S. I recycle everything possible: aluminum, styrofoam, glass, newspapers (yes, there still are a few), magazines, plastic, plastic bags. I also keep a milk jug by my sinks to catch the water that comes out while I'm waiting for the hot water to kick in. I use it to water my plants. Keep up the good work! - Cheryl G. Hi Tommy (et al), Inflation fighter- Beans! I bag dried beans soak overnight $2 1 lb. Smoked neck bones $2-3 1 can tomatoes <$1 Garlic, onion, celery, green pepper, jalapeno >$3 Simmer 3-4 hours Less than $10 Dinner >5X @ $2 a pop. Cheap. Nutritious. Delicious! Thanks, - Mark M. Man, these are some amazing suggestions - and it's only a fraction of the awesome notes you sent my way yesterday! Keep em' coming, will ya? Here are a couple of my favorites from my own experience. You might think a guy like me doesn't need to worry about saving money, but I don't like being wasteful either. One thing me and Shelby like to do is make soup! We keep lots of veggies and healthy stuff around, but sometimes we don't use them in time. Here's a secret, though – even those slightly wilted veggies taste great in a pot of soup! Just throw in any extra meat, pasta, rice, canned tomatoes, and you've got yourself a few days of good eatin'! I also used to love having potluck dinners back in the day when I was a broke traveling musician. Everyone brings a dish, and there's usually so much food that everyone gets to take some home. Potlucks were huge in the 60s and 70s – and you can probably guess why. Hippies like to share, man! If you've got more ideas to share with the rest of the Cousins, hit reply and let me know! And remember, as long as we're talking about this Inflation Buster sale, you can head over to [GetChongCBD.com](~/AASl5QA~/RgRmAbDUP0T-aHR0cDovL0dldENob25nQ0JELmNvbT91dG1fc291cmNlPUtsYXZpeW8mdXRtX21lZGl1bT1jYW1wYWlnbi1lbWFpbCZ1dG1fY2FtcGFpZ249My4yNS4yMyUyMC0lMjBJTkZMQVRJT04lMjAlMjMyJTIwJTI4MDFHV0NQOTVFMlBRNFJGRENLN1RQQjRXSkUlMjkmc3ViMT0wMUdHVFYxSktGNjc2N1oyUjE2MkExWDM2USZfa3g9b3doblFZTTBoV3hXXzBpb2ZtTm5xTHJaQVhjekQxakpCTUdWenB5Q0plTlJrV0pYOTFocjJ1QjJMbkstLWg2ci5WdGlqVkdXA3NwY0IKZArUKx9kCVA9v1IbdHJpc3RyYW1iYWxkd2luOTJAZ21haWwuY29tWAQAAfJB) and score a sweet discount on whatever you need! Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables.
