Hey man... ever wonder why we call it sand?

Cheech and I have always been pretty good at coming up with random thoughts that make you go "hmmm." I guess when your mind wanders as much as ours do, you're bound to stumble across some interesting ideas now and then, man. Maybe it's all that... let's call it "creative inspiration" we're constantly getting. Anyway, we've been sharing some of these "deep thoughts" on [our Instagram page]( lately, and you cousins seem to be enjoying them. So I thought I'd share a few of my recent favorites: Do you think it's called sand because it's between sea & land? Now that's the kind of thing that keeps me up at night, man. Or at least it would if I didn't have my [Nice Dreams]( to help me sleep. Here's another good one: If you pour ice water on a hot dog, does it become a chili dog? I think I've seen Joey Chestnut try this at one of those Coney Island hot dog eating contests... can't say it looks particularly appetizing, man. I wouldn't recommend trying it at your next barbecue. And how about this... Hey man... why are deliveries on a ship called cargo, but in a car it's called a shipment? I mean, seriously. Who was the guy who came up with all of these words? No wonder people from other countries have a hard time with English, man! Anyway, Cheech and I are posting more of these thoughts all the time. Here's one last deep thought for the road: "Why do noses run, but feet smell?" Chew on that one for a while, man. P.P.S. -- I looked it up, because of course I did... Turns out sand is from an old germanic word "sund", meaning "small bits" ... Fun fact: same root as the word "asunder" which means to be torn or broken into small pieces as in "torn asunder" Who knew? I don't know about you, but this kind of stuff fascinates me...
