You know, they say as you get older, it gets harder to stay in touch with friends and family. Life gets busy, people move away, and before you know it, you're wondering where all the time went. But man, after this birthday, I gotta say - that's certainly not the case with this familia. For years, Tommy was always going on about how special you cousins are... but I'll be honest, I used to think he might've been exaggerating a bit before. You know Tommy - never one to understate things, right? But now that I've been sending these emails and connecting with you all, I'm seeing just how right he was. The love and and kind messages you sent me on my birthday was enough to make this old comedian's heart grow three sizes, man. The Rock Stars down at the office sent me a big list of all (something like 300+ notes) of the birthday wishes you shared over the weekend. And man, you sure made me feel special - even though most folks were a lot busier thinking about other things than your Tio Cheech's 78th. I wish I could respond to each and every one of you personally, but for now, let me share a few that jumped out: OMG HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHEECH !!!! You have had me laughing for over 55 years ! I can remember by oldest brother used to play your albums on the only record player in the house and I would laugh (although that young I didn’t quite understand all of it) . I have been entertained by you either laughing or crying for my whole life. Thank you for all the years of laughter, and entertainment. She turned 31 this year and she is almost as big of a fan of yours as her dad is. True story: About 15 years ago she was trying to think up a good Halloween costume. I was watching “Up in Smoke” on a DVD and she walked in, right at the part when you were getting on stage. Yup. She got her costume idea. Her mom made her a pink tu-tu, she made a cardboard Stratocaster, and I taught her the words to the song.
