Over the last two years, Congress took [action]( by passing legislation which made the largest investments to defend our environment and combat climate change in our nation's history. I'm focused on taking steps in the right direction for our future, but just this past week House Republican leaders introduced a budget proposal that would wipe out all investments from last year's bi-partisan Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) allocated to address climate change! We need to deploy more solar and wind energy, increase safer electric vehicles, move with policies that will help our environment like a Build Back Better Act, pass the Green New Deal, deplete our dependence on fossil fuels and so much more! With so much still needing to be done, we can't stop, surrender our commitments on this Earth Day and go backwards! The climate crisis is here, and it is real right before our eyes! Record Tornadoes across Midwest and Southern states are not stopping! Water shortages resulting in droughts for many citizens are not stopping! Record storms and wildfires in California are not stopping! Plastic and Air Pollution is not stopping - so neither can we! I stand with President Biden, organizations and all serious individuals in taking desperately needed action to cut emissions, transition our economy towards clean energy and preserve our planet for generations to come. We can't let Republicans stop our investments we've already delivered and prevent us from passing policies to help our planet in the future. When pundits and politicians try to tell you we haven't delivered, remind them that the greatest investments in the environment in our nation's history would never have happened under Republican leadership. But don't stop there - [please contribute today to help defeat Republican climate denial and help liberals progress.]( If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately: [$5 →]( [$11 →]( [$25 →]( [$50 →]( [$100 →]( [other →]( Before I even served on the Board of the Fairfax County Supervisors, I've been a proud advocate for our environment.
