The worst of the worst ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌

In order to eke out his election as Speaker, Kevin McCarthy made secret side deals with the most extreme Republicans in Congress. Now we're learning just what they got for their votes. McCarthy added Paul Gosar, Marjorie Taylor Greene, and Lauren Boebert to the Oversight Committee, where I've served the past fourteen years. These are members of Congress who have spoken to avowed White Nationalist groups, harassed school shooting victims, and all voted to overturn the election in 2020. When we were in the majority, the Oversight committee was a force for good. We passed bipartisan postal reform, reformed federal IT practices, and exposed the real corruption that permeated the Trump administration. Now, House Republicans will be setting the stage for divorced-from-reality political stunts, ridiculous attacks on the Biden family, and hearings on every conspiracy theory passed around the darkest parts of the internet. I’m committed to making sure our committee continues to focus on the issues that really matter to the American people and to beat down every trumped up chare from the far-right.
