I'm happy to share some of what we've been investigating for more than five years: extensive foreign and domestic bribery at Trump Hotel, huge debts, and preferential treatment from Deutsche Bank for a $170 million loan. ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ Dear {NAME}, I have been investigating former President Donald Trump on the Oversight Committee for the past five years, trying to hold one of the most endemically corrupt and unethical regimes in American history to account for its crimes. Today we released hundreds of documents as reported by the Washington Post. The reality is worse than this headline: we revealed extensive foreign and domestic spending at Trump Hotel, huge debts, and preferential treatment from Deutsche Bank for a $170 million loan. This behavior is unprecedented but unsurprising, because Trump and his cronies demonstrated time and again their disregard for conflicts of interest, public service, and ethics on their pursuit of personal prosperity. Trump's criminality obviously extended beyond just fraud and bribery - including the treasonous & ongoing efforts to overturn the election that resulted in the attempted insurrection of January 6th. That is why I refuse to consider this an issue of the past, and why I've introduced legislation like the Protecting Our Democracy Act, to ensure our institutions are strong enough to survive another national calamity like the Trump Administration (hopefully never).
