We’ll discuss privacy, law enforcement and the future of technology with U.S. Rep. Pramila Jayapal, Seattle Police Chief Carmen Best, and Axon President Luke Larson. A full track on Oct. 8 will explore the future of health technology, including personalized medicine, gene editing, telemedicine and digital health. Federal Trade Commissioner Rohit Chopra will discuss his call for steeper penalties and broader antitrust enforcement against tech companies like Amazon, Facebook, and Google. We’ll be joined by top Amazon executives Dave Limp, head of Alexa and Echo; and Jay Carney, senior vice president of global corporate affairs, in separate sessions exploring the future of technology and the changing landscape for tech companies. Microsoft President Brad Smith will join us to discuss the new era of privacy, regulation and artificial intelligence. On our “VC View” panel, venture capitalists Amy Bohutinsky of Technology Crossover Ventures; Megan Quinn of Spark Capital; Hope Cochran of Madrona Venture Group; and Dana Settle of Greycroft, will provide insights into the future of technology. We’ll crown the winner of the Elevator Pitch startup competition after hearing their final pitches. We’ll talk about podcasting, audio and the future of media with a panel of media veterans, journalists and entrepreneurs with backgrounds at Google, American Public Media, CNN and startups. We’ll explore new ways to build diverse, impactful organizations with Ana Mari Cauce, president of the University of Washington; Jessie Woolley-Wilson, president & CEO, DreamBox Learning; and Marilyn Strickland, president and CEO of the Seattle Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce. Genomics pioneer Leroy Hood will deliver a talk explaining how 21st century medicine will change your healthcare and potentially extend your productive lifespan. We’ll catch up with Steve Ballmer, LA Clippers chairman and former Microsoft CEO, on topics including his USAFacts initiative, seeking to ground the national conversation in a common understanding of the numbers and trends behind some of the most important and divisive issues facing the country and the world.
