The resolution was sponsored by mayors from California, Oregon, Ohio, Georgia, New York, Missouri, Tennessee and Mississippi. Blue states. Red States. Purple States. Because gun violence is not a partisan issue. It impacts us all. And the overwhelming majority of Americans from all communities and all political beliefs want more action on this issue. I have said from the start that I was under no illusions about how difficult passing a Constitutional amendment on guns would be. But it had to start somewhere — and in California we became the first state to call for a Constitutional convention on the issue. Now mayors from across the country are adding their voice. That's how it builds. And none of it would have happened without the demonstrated grassroots support for this issue.
