Last week I had a hilarious realization. And -- as soon as I saw it -- I knew I had to share it with you cuz it's so funny 😂 You see... Recently, I've been experimenting with Facebook Ads once again. BUT... Unlike many other people who are solely after generating an ROI as fast as possible... (which, in their minds is often 7, 14, or 21 days) I wanted to leverage Facebook Ads to specifically test a few new ideas on cold traffic... During the busiest shopping season... When ad costs are probably the highest... And when the signal-to-noise ratio is the worst! Now... If at this point, you're like "Why TF would you deliberately do that, Csaba??! I get it. The idea DOES seem stupid... on the surface. However... Not when you're looking at it from a different angle! Because MY angle with this experiment was the following: I wanted to see which new lead magnet ideas would generate clicks and signups on cold traffic... ...DESPITE all those other "debuffs"! (or if you're not a gamer like myself... debuff = limiting factor) Because IF I could get a healthy Cost-Per-Unique-Link-Click + Cost-Per-Lead in THIS marketing landscape... when things are most difficult... Chances are, I could probably make these ideas (and their subsequent funnels) work even better later on. So that's what I did. I tested a few ideas... And, unsurprisingly, the ["Rapid Lead Activator"]( concept beat out all the others. But here's the FUNNY part: Instead of manually creating a bunch of ads separately... I set up the control campaign using Facebook's own "Dynamic Creative" feature... Since this allows you to automatically test the combination of up to 5 headlines, 5 images, and 5 body copy versions. HOWEVER... For some weird reason... All those text variations got corrupted... And despite the editor showing me carefully crafted copy versions... The ads themselves all looked like this: Which would have been fine... Had I caught this issue in time... But I didn't. So -- for a few weeks -- all my ads were served looking like the one above... Using ultra-creative headlines like "HEADLINE 4"... And mega-persuasive messages like "AD COPY - OPENING LINE 2" that A-List copywriters would all be jealous of! 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️ I mean... Talk about messing up big time. That should have murdered the entire campaign right there on the spot! BUT... It didn't. In fact, all the ads in the campaign did surprisingly well. For example, as you can see, the one above actually got: 10 reactions... A comment... And FOUR (4) freakin' shares??... All while having a 2.45% Unique CTR after 5000 impressions??!! When all the text is clearly just a placeholder???!!!!!?!?!?!?! WTF?? How is that even possible? 😮 What voodoo magic is this??? ... .. . Tell you what, {NAME}... When I eventually realized this, I was shocked. I couldn't believe it! And when I shared this in the coaching group I'm part of, people burst out laughing. Even Ross -- my coach (who's an amazing marketer) -- has never seen something like this before. But the data was clear. Despite totally (and I mean TOTALLY) butchering the copy... The campaign was working! And I was generating leads at around $6-7. (obviously, not the best quality leads... but still!) Why? Simple. Because the IDEA itself was connecting with people. (Plus the image did a great job conveying that idea in a visual way) It wasn't quite a "Big Idea" like the famous "End of America" promotion... But it was definitely good enough... And it also had a unique mechanism built into it. Win-win. And the best part? This whacky experiment perfectly validated my original hypothesis 😁 Because if I could make a cold traffic ad work: ...During the busiest shopping season ...When ad costs are highest ...When attention spans are lowest ...WHILE only using "placeholder" copy... Then chances are, I could probably roll this out in full force and make it work in Q4 2024 as well 😉 Which makes me feel great! So yeah... The BIG takeaway? The Idea + Primary Promise The copy itself. Something to remember. Stay frosty, -Csaba P.S. -- Would you like to work with me 1-on-1 on your lead activation and conversion process?
