(especially when it comes to understanding human behavior!) These sessions are an excellent way to experience multiple "AHA Moments "regarding my craft. So as I was listening to a particular training on Unique Mechanisms by marketing master Todd Brown... I came across this graphic: ​ It's basically Todd's model on creating deadly effective sales messages. Now... If you're on my list, you know that I'm no stranger to sales pages. I mean, breaking down 100 proven sales letters in 100 days did wonders for my copy chops in this area. HOWEVER... I was completely blown away by Todd's unique sales page model the first time I saw it. ​ It's just soooo simple, elegant, and incredibly effective. ​ And that's the thing! Most people consider sales page copywriting to be the hardest type of copywriting of all... Involving weeks (or months) of time, gargantuan effort, and a very hard barrier of entry. But Todd's model is exactly the opposite! It's easy to use, dependable, and — as I said — incredibly effective. Wanna know why? Because it's not your typical "sales page template" that's way too general to work. Instead, it's a framework that — once you understand — you can use to effectively sell pretty much anything... ...WITHOUT being pushy, sleazy, overly-aggressive, or "talking like a marketer". It's just effortless. Now... I could spend HOURS talking about the subtle nuances of this model and why it's structured the way it is... But I don't want to turn this email into a long-form lecture. ​ However, here's the short version, with a few key points: ​ 1 — Your job as a marketer is to show your ideal customer how your product is different and superior compared to anything else they've seen so far 2 — The way you do this is by tapping into their already-existing desires... and coming up with a unique "Big Marketing Idea" (also called Big Idea) 3 — Once you have the idea, you develop a Unique Mechanism that basically explains HOW your product/service actually works to deliver the result 4 — Next up, you present your idea in an eye-catching headline, and use the first part of your message (The Lead) to build desire and curiosity for your Unique Mechanism 5 — After the Lead — and this is the most important part — you don't just start selling your product... You sell people on the Unique Mechanism instead by showing tons of Proof... culminating in them accepting your so-called "Campaign Thesis" (a.k.a., the belief that "YES, I now understand WHY this Unique Mechanism is the only way for me to achieve my goals") 6 — And finally... after all those steps above... you give them a so-called S.I.N. Offer: - Superior - Irresistible - No-brainer === However, by this time they're pretty much sold already. And the most counter-intuitive aspect of this whole thing? 75% of your sales page doesn't really "sell" at all. In fact, you don't even mention your product directly! All you do is build a case for your Unique Mechanism. That's it. ​ It's kind of like being a prosecutor in court. ​ You're leading people to accept your Campaign Thesis by showing various types of Proof. See why this is so incredibly powerful? It totally skips the "aggressive selling part"... And because of that, it doesn't trigger people's sales resistance. (And once you DO shift into selling mode, you melt away objections with ease) So even better! Win-win for everyone. And that was the big realization I mentioned at the beginning of this email: Instead of thinking like a typical marketer or salesperson... think like a prosecutor who's building a case for the jury to accept his/her Thesis. Because if you do, you'll be able to "short-circuit" people's natural sales resistance... And you'll be able to make way more money... Which means more freedom, happiness, and fulfillment for you.
