{NAME}, I love the cold. I really like snow. In particular I love the northern forests in the wintertime. My love of the Northwoods began in earnest in 2003, when I attended a winter course with Lars Fält and Ray Mears in northern Sweden. I liked it so much I repeated the course in 2004. Not long after this I was asked to assist Lars on subsequent winter courses up to and including 2010, after which I left Woodlore and started Frontier Bushcraft. During the 2000s I also undertook a number of remote ski tours in Norway, including crossing the Hardanger Vidda, further extending my experience of winter conditions. After starting Frontier Bushcraft in 2010, I continued to travel north each winter, with a small group of friends and colleagues who also loved winter travel and winter camping. Each year we headed to northern Sweden with toboggans, snowshoes and a Snowtrekker tent, undertaking treks or setting up a base camp and working on winter skills in a remote area. All these trips were documented on my blog site at paulkirtley.co.uk We then took what we had learned and undertook winter trips in Canada, further extending our experience (and having a lot of fun in the process). Meanwhile, Dave and Kielyn Marrone, took their existing passion for traditional winter travel, crafts and culture and established their company Lure of the North in Ontario, Canada, in 2011. Undertaking some epic trips and offering a range of great winter programs, they have become known as the pre-eminent traditional winter travel specialists. In 2019, Lure of the North and Frontier Bushcraft decided to join forces to offer a winter course drawing on our collective knowledge and experience, the [Northwoods Winter Experience](. This immersive two-week program is built on decades of winter tripping and, more broadly, wilderness living experience. The Northwoods Winter Experience is a unique opportunity to learn from Dave, Kie and me, all in once place at the same time. Full details are available via the link below…. [( Don't get me wrong, I've enjoyed the summer, but I am very much looking forward to getting out in the woods this winter too. In particular, I'm looking forward to sharing winter skills and experience on our Northwoods trip, with a group who also enjoy snowy forests. If you think this sounds interesting, check out everything the trip contains [here](. Warm regards, - Paul Paul Kirtley Founder, Director and Lead Instructor Frontier Bushcraft P.S. We are currently working on our full schedule of courses and trips for 2024 and I'll be in touch about these soon. .
