[L]( was just featured in Vogue Magazine]( on her motivation to run for Congress -- and her work since she got to Washington to end gun violence. Dear {NAME}, This time of year is a particularly painful one for Lucy around the anniversary of her son Jordan's death. But by telling her story -- and Jordan's story -- she has inspired so many folks around the country to get involved in the political fight to end gun violence and pass gun safety reforms in Washington. This week, Lucy was featured by Vogue Magazine. They published a pretty stirring interaction between Lucy and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, who still hasn't allowed Lucy's gun safety leglislation that passed the House to come to the Senate floor for a vote. "Senator McConnell’s legislative counsel, Tiffany Ge, invites them into a conference room, and for the next 80 minutes, pain and frustration roll through the room like a cloud of thunder. A Chicago mother speaks about losing two of her children to random shootings; a survivor of the Las Vegas mass shooting describes the whoosh of a bullet passing through her hair... After every story, Ge repeats the same phrase. “Thank you for sharing your story.” Finally, McBath can’t take it anymore. “We are asking you to let the government work the way it should! It’s not a democracy if you won’t even bring it to the Senate for a vote. That’s not the rule of law. It’s the American people who decide law, and they are pressing us. I know this sounds harsh, but the blood of every person who gets shot is going to be on his hands.” A few minutes after the meeting breaks up, McBath and I pass McConnell himself in the Rotunda of the U.S. Capitol... “Senator McConnell,” she says, stopping him to introduce herself. “We were just in your office with a group of survivors urging you to bring H.R. 8 to a vote.” “Thank you, thank you for your visit,” he answers politely. After he moves on, I tell McBath it was gutsy of her to stop him like that. “He needs to know that we’ll be back,” she responds. “We will never stop.” Lucy will never stop fighting for us in Washington. As a mother on a mission, she won't let the NRA or other special interests hold us back in our fight to end gun violence. [So, will you consider chipping in a grassroots donation of $6 or any amount so Lucy can continue to be our voice to hold politicians like Mitch McConnell accountable? Your donations are what helps Lucy get re-elected so she can continue our fight for gun safety](. It may seem like a small amount to ask, but every dollar will really make a difference between now and Election Day in 2020. Thanks for all that you do, -- Team Lucy [DONATE $6]( Paid for by Friends of Lucy McBath [unsubscribe]( Lucy McBath for Congress Sandy Plains Road, Suite 204-210 Marietta, GA 30066 United States
