Hey {NAME},  Tomorrow is the Thanksgiving holiday here in the U.S. And that means there’s only about a month left in 2022.  Plus it is also typically the unofficial start to the holiday season.  So today, I want to share one of my most-popular tips for [how you can “hack” this time of year to your advantage](…  And book yourself solid from day one in 2023.  See, the beginning of the year is one of the best times to book more work with your current and past clients.  Since most business owners start off with aggressive goals and renewed optimism after the holiday break.  And if you’re at the top of their mind, you will be the first person they think to hire for help reaching their new goals.  (Plus you can also take matters into your own hands and reach out to your past clients at the beginning of the year, too. Which I’ll cover in a future email.)  On top of that, if you have retainers, the beginning of the year also gives you a natural opportunity to raise your rates.  And if you raise your rates by $500 per month for two retainer clients, that’s an extra $12,000 per year of pure profit for you.  Or if you can get three retainer clients to accept a $1,000 increase per month, that’s an extra $36,000 per year in profit for you.  But getting clients to agree to higher rates like that doesn’t happen by accident.  If you want to start the new year with a bang, then you need to begin planting those seeds now.  And there’s actually a simple, easy, and fun way to make your clients think fondly of you as the year draws to a close.  Now I realize this approach may seem trivial at first. But don’t underestimate how powerful it actually is…  I’m talking about sending your clients gifts for the holidays.  In fact, I have been sending my clients holiday gifts for years now.  And I’ve found that it’s a great way to lay the groundwork for a profitable start to the new year.  - A gift in the mail creates a more powerful impression than an email or ecard. (And most freelancers don’t even go that far.) Which means you will stand out head-and-shoulders above your competition. - Gifts also create a feeling of reciprocity. And that can make your clients more inclined to agree to a rate increase or new project. - Plus even if there isn’t a direct financial ROI, sending your clients a gift is a great way to show them your appreciation for their business. (Especially if you work with clients that you like.) So by spending a few hours and a few hundred dollars on gifts now, you could add tens of thousands to your bottom line next year.  That’s literally a 100x ROI.  I can’t think of many other opportunities with that kind of potential.  Which is why I urge you to consider sending holiday gifts to your own current and past clients this year.  And if you want to see the exact gifts I give my clients — plus how I include a handwritten note with each one — check out my [2022 Guide To Freelance Client Gifts](.
