Weirdest split test ever yesterday. Hey - Happy Saturday first of all. Hope your labor day weekend is off to a good start. Mine is - especially considering this weird split test test I did yesterday (and the results it got). So here's what happened. Yesterday, I told you about [this page](), which has historically converted at about 29%. It's not the copy or anything that makes it work, it's the offer (I'm giving away five of my best books plus a $9K bonus for just a dollar ...and there's no catch. There's no "trial" or anything. It's great.) You should take me up on that by the way. The books are good and you'll have something cool to read this weekend. Anyway, I haven't run this offer in almost two years. So yesterday I decided to run it as a Labor Day promo. But when I looked at the sales video on the page, I realized that I look absolutely terrible in it. Like ...really bad. Embarrassingly so. So what to do? I didn't want to re-shoot it because it was working. So I decided to do a weird test. Here's what I did: 1. I took the original video and stripped out JUST the audio. 2. Then I had that transcribed. 3. Then I made a video that was just the original audio with nothing but the transcriptions on the screen. Like a typical "video sales letter" but instead of using slides and stuff ...it just shows the transcripts. So instead of seeing me ...you just see the words on the screen. That's all. I think you know where this is heading ...but do you wanna know what happened? Wanna know which one got more sales? The answer is ....the one WITHOUT ME! But it's not what you think. It only got 9% more sales than the original. (Which is nothing to sneeze at by the way.) So what's the big thing that caused a 66.68% jump in revenue? It's this: The people that DIDN'T see my ugly mug spent more money! Shocker alert: There are order bumps and upsells in the funnel. (I know, right? Who'da guessed?) Anyway - the people who saw the version WITHOUT me in it spent 66.68% more than the ones who saw the "control" version. Wanna know what this means? Me too! I have no clue what it means except: 1. It's pretty clear that you don't have to be on camera if you don't want to. 2. (And this is important) ...PRE-FRAMING is a big deal. Here's what pre-framing is (at least for the sake of this conversation). It's controlling how people feel about you BEFORE they have a chance to buy your stuff. In the original video where I look like what you'd get if Keith Richards married a zombie and they had a zombie-child, the viewer is probably forming this opinion: "This is a good offer and I want it ...but man this dude needs to pull it together." I mean c'mon ...it's five of my books plus a mystery bonus that's (literally) worth $9K ...for just $1. So the viewer is willing to buy in SPITE of how bad I look. BUT ...when it comes time to take the upsells, there's something in the subconscious (or maybe even conscious) mind that's making them pass. Now, enter the new version where it's just words and stuff on the screen: They don't see me ...and therefore 100% of their focus is on the offer (which is really solid). When it comes time to take the upsells, their minds aren't distracted by how terrible I look because they never saw me. ...Which means that 100% of their focus is on the sales message itself ...and not distracted by thoughts like "damn, ol Frankie might need to get a few weeks rest and WTF is up with that haircut??" So in the video without me in it, the pre-framing is basically "man, this is a really good deal". ...And that carries through during the entire funnel ...which causes the viewer to buy more stuff. How bout them apples? This also means that maybe ...just maybe ...we can simply record ourselves TALKING out our pitch by using the audio recorder on your phone ...and then just turn that audio into a "VSL" without having to do all the work of making slides and stuff. (Or being on camera). Because remember ...that version not only brought in more revenue from upsells ...it also converted 9% BETTER than the original. Of course none of this means squat if your offer's no good and buddy, this offer is GREAT. I'm giving you five of my best books AND a mystery bonus that's (literally) worth $9K ...for just a dollar. [Get it here](=). This is just for this weekend and just for fun. Frank P.S. I'm going to let the split-test keep running just to make sure the numbers hold. So when you go to check it out, you might see the original. I'll let you know if there's a significant change in the results but in the meantime, dude - get this. [Five of my books for only one dinero ...plus the mystery bonus. Woo hoo!]() [Unsubscribe]( Frank Kern 7660 Fay Ave La Jolla, California 92037-0021 United States
