Tom Brady told us long ago that he'd still be playing at age 45, and it's officially come true. [View in browser]( [FOX SPORTS INSIDER WITH MARTIN ROGERS] In today’s FOX Sports Insider with Martin Rogers: Tom Brady knew he’d still be playing at 45, and here we are on the very day ... examining what Vin Scully meant to Los Angeles and the sports world ... and more! Sorry, but just because Tom Brady will be joining FOX for analyst duties at some point in the indeterminate future doesn’t mean we have the inside track on how he’ll spend his 45th birthday today. Like everyone else though, we can make our best guess, based on standing knowledge. As Wednesday rolls on, there’ll be the continuation of Tampa Bay Buccaneers' training camp. Presumably, at some point Brady will devour a delicious (but outrageously healthy) celebratory meal, prepared by a skilled chef. It’s also a certainty that he’ll be opening some thoughtful gifts from his wife and children (although 45-year-old men are notoriously difficult to shop for). Yet one of the best presents Brady could wish for is already in place. For as soon as the calendar flicked over to Aug. 3, the seven-time Super Bowl champion gained the right to say, categorically: “I told you so.” He’s 45, and still an elite quarterback in the NFL. And he did, indeed, tell us it would be so. The problem was, years ago and with Brady entering his mid-to-late 30s, the concept of such a thing was so outlandish, so unprecedented and unheard of, that we dismissed it. It sounded like bluster, even from a player who had already usurped the boundaries of so many predictions. [BET OF THE DAY] [BET OF THE DAY] Odds provided by [FOX Bet]( San Diego Padres to win World Series: +1000 FOX Sports MLB Betting Analyst Edward Egros: Not only did they pull off the marquee trade of the season, but the Juan Soto blockbuster is the biggest deal in the last several seasons. Let's emphasize how good Soto’s start to his major league career has been into perspective. Among all hitters before their 24th birthday in the Divisional Era (since 1974), the former National ranks first in on-base percentage among qualifiers (.427), first in walks per plate appearance (.190), seventh in home runs and 10th in total bases. Aside from Babe Ruth, players this talented with this much Major League experience are rarely dealt. Until now. This season alone, Soto’s plate discipline rivals that of any player with several seasons of additional experience. His chase rate is in the 99th percentile, his out-of-zone swing rate of 18.6% is third best in MLB and his whiff rate of 20% ranks 44th best. Combine that with a maximum exit velocity of 113.2 mph, that’s in the 90th percentile, and you have a hitter who can cause a ton of damage and won’t self-destruct. Certainly, the haul of prospects and young stars leaving the West Coast is significant. But remember that the Padres will eventually get Fernando Tatis, Jr. back this season (wrist injury). The combination of Tatis, Manny Machado, Juan Soto and first baseman Josh Bell who’s also joining San Diego with his .301 batting average and 57 RBI, is about as dangerous as any group in baseball. And yet, it has been pitching that has put them in a position to play October baseball. San Diego is -667 on FOX Bet to make the Playoffs, so basically a lock to make the postseason. These are great days to be a Padres fan. For the latest betting odds, [click here](.
