ACTION NEEDED ASAP: Factory farming is hurting people, animals, and the environment — but the federal government supports it! [Take action now!]( Big Meat and Dairy corporations try to convince the public that their operations as good for animals and sustainable for the planet, but the reality is starkly different. These corporations spend millions on lobbying and spreading misinformation to prevent people like you from realizing just how ABUSIVE AND HARMFUL factory farms actually are. The truth is, factory farmed hens are often CRAMMED into tiny cages no bigger than a sheet of paper where they can’t even spread their wings. Pregnant mother pigs are often CONFINED to metal pens that are too tight for them to turn around. And the waste from factory farms ends up in the water, food and air the surrounding communities rely on. Big Ag wants to keep deceiving you about what’s really going on so that it can continue to profit off of these abuses — at the cost of animal welfare, public health, and the environment. [We must hold these greedy corporations accountable. Add your name to demand an END to USDA support of factory farms! >>]( [SIGN THE PETITION]( Factory farms release MASSIVE amounts of harmful pollutants into the environment, deepening the climate crisis and contaminating local water sources. These environmental risks are especially heightened for rural, low-income, and Black and Brown communities. In fact, mega-farms produce hundreds of billions of pounds of manure per year. When it seeps into the soil and reaches nearby water sources, it can pollute drinking water, kill fish, and render nearby waterways unsafe. Even more, the antibiotics in this waste can foster antibiotic-resistant bacteria that harm human health! The factory farming industry isn’t just getting away with perpetrating animal cruelty, air and water pollution, public health risks, and climate-harming emissions — it’s receiving huge public subsidies! [Friend, we need 17,471 signatures before midnight to reach our goal to push the USDA to stop propping up the factory farming industry. Can we count on you to take urgent action now?]( [SIGN THE PETITION]( Thank you, Friends of the Earth Contact Us: Friends of the Earth U.S. Washington, D.C. | Berkeley, CA 1-877-843-8687 [Contact us](foe.org/about-us/contact/) Email Preferences: [Click here to unsubscribe]( Learn more: www.foe.org/news www.foe.org/about-us www.foeaction.org Connect: [Facebook]( [Twitter]( [Flickr]( © 2021, Friends of the Earth.
