A cruise ship pulling into port in Alaska had an innocent humpback whale IMPALED on the bow, breaking its spine and killing it. This isn't a one-off: More than 80 whales die each year from vessel strikes like this â just off the West Coast alone. Tragically, this is no surprise as cruise ships are known to hurtle through whale habitats at dangerous speeds. These stories are a testament to how much is at stake for vulnerable whale populations. And the threat to precious blue, fin, rice and humpback whales is only getting worse. One of the most endangered whale species in the world, Riceâs whales are just ONE disaster away from extinction with as few as 20 whales remaining. Greedy corporations like Big Cruise have shown time and time again that for them, profit comes before everything â even unique whales that are at risk of being wiped off the face of the Earth. If we donât break the profit-chasing pattern, we could stand to lose some of the most majestic creatures that grace our oceans.
