SOUTHERN RESIDENT ORCAS: Approaching EXTINCTION [RUSH A DONATION]( Records reflect most recent available data. Without immediate help, Southern Resident orcas could soon plummet toward extinction. Just last month, the youngest baby orca in the pod was presumed dead after just a month of life. Sadly, this isnât a rare occurrence â so many of these baby orcas never make it to adulthood because of the amount of toxins the mother and baby absorb from their environment, as well as the severe lack of food. Southern Resident pods are a close-knit family, and every death shakes them to their core. Weak, stressed and grieving orcas canât withstand the onslaught of fossil fuel and industrial shipping projects tearing through their habitats. And these attacks are not stopping despite the dwindling orca population. We canât let these vulnerable whales down again â and we need your help. Please, help us reach our extended World Whale Day goal by MIDNIGHT to stop corporate greed from destroying our oceans and pushing our planet towards DESTRUCTION. - Plus, a huge expansion of the Trans Mountain Pipeline is set to bring millions more barrels of dirty tar sands oil in tanker ships through these orcasâ delicate habitat.
- These projects would drastically increase the likelihood of an oil spill â and just one oil spill may guarantee the extinction of Southern Resident orcas. It doesnât have to be this way, but right now, corporate greed is winning and endangered orcas will pay the price. Orcas will struggle to find food that theyâre already lacking. They wonât be able to locate each other with the massive noise disruption to their sonar signals. And they will even face outright collisions with speeding ships. The danger doesnât end there, friend. These projects would bring devastating pollution to nearby communities â putting their health and livelihoods at risk. People could soon be watching the sea life they rely on wither away before their very eyes. When an oil spill happens, coastal communities will be left with toxic ocean waters and livelihoods destroyed. If we donât do anything, it will be just a matter of time until Big Oil wipes out endangered orcas and leaves nearby communities struggling.
