URGENT ACTION NEEDED: Defend organic farmers and farm animals from Big Ag’s corporate greed! [Take action now >>]( The Organic Livestock & Poultry Standards rule (OLPS) would codify federal animal welfare standards in organic agriculture to ensure the humane treatment of livestock. But Big Ag succeeded in getting the rule quashed in 2017 and has been skirting past organic animal welfare regulations that would ensure that animals have access to fresh air, sunlight, enough space to move around, and are free from unnecessary physical alterations. Fortunately, the USDA approved the reinstatement of the rule last year. Here’s the problem though, Friend: It hasn’t been enacted yet. Every moment that goes by without the OLPS rule could mean another defenseless farm animal enduring abuse. [Will you do something right now to protect ALL organic farm animals and the organic farm industry from Big Ag’s corporate greed?]( [SIGN THE PETITION]( National Food Day is approaching, Friend -- so what better time to defend organic farming? Organic agriculture is a response to public demands for a healthier, safer, and more transparent food system -- including livestock that are treated with respect and dignity. Just to be clear, Friend, most organic farmers already meet the high expectations that come with the organic label. But the true organic farmers that already follow these high-quality guidelines are losing crucial business to large ag companies that have found loopholes in the system and are more concerned with their bottom line than the humane treatment of animals or the integrity that comes with the organic label. That’s why Friends of the Earth is helping organic farmers, consumers, and animal welfare activists stand up to Big Ag. We’re calling on 3,814 more environmentalists like you to demonstrate strong public support for this critical organic animal welfare rule. [Will you add your name now to tell the USDA to enact the OLPS rule immediately? Please add your name before our 11:59 P.M. petition deadline! >>]( [SIGN THE PETITION]( Thanks for your support, Friends of the Earth Contact Us: Friends of the Earth U.S. Washington, D.C. | Berkeley, CA 1-877-843-8687 [Contact us](foe.org/about-us/contact/) Email Preferences: [Click here to unsubscribe]( Learn more: www.foe.org/news www.foe.org/about-us www.foeaction.org Connect: [Facebook]( [Twitter]( [Flickr]( © 2021, Friends of the Earth.
