And wolves are in serious danger. As you read this, trophy hunters are tracking down innocent wolves across the country. And they’re showing no mercy. Soon, our nation’s forests will be painted red with the blood of helpless wolves. [It doesn’t have to be like this. Help protect wolves before we lose them forever and stand up for our planet: donate $27 today and help us reach our urgent $5,000 goal!]( The fall and winter months are deadly for wolves in the United States. Last season alone, hunters in Montana gunned down over 250 helpless wolves. The state even allows hunting along Yellowstone’s border. That means any Yellowstone wolf that wanders over the park’s border loses its protection and is instantly fair game to hunters. But Yellowstone can’t afford to lose any more wolves. Right now, there are only 89 gray wolves left in the park. And to make matters worse, a trophy hunting rampage wiped out an entire pack just last year! Now, trophy hunters and Big Polluters are fighting tooth and nail to strip away the few protections wolves still have. If wolves are going to make it through this hunting season, we have to act now to protect them at all costs. Hunting season is upon us. Act now to protect wolves and the planet: Donate $27 today and help us reach our $5,000 goal! If you've saved payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately: [Donate $27 immediately]( [Donate $50 immediately]( [Donate $100 immediately]( [Donate another amount]( With only 6,000 wolves remaining in the lower 48 states, we can’t stand to see another catastrophic hunting season. That’s because one wolf kill isn’t just one wolf kill. When a mama wolf is gunned down by a trophy hunter, her babies’ chances for survival plummet. Without protection, orphaned wolf pups could starve or freeze to death. Or they might survive long enough to fall prey to other animals and trophy hunters. It gets even worse. These hunting practices are worse than anything we’ve seen before. Wolves are chased down by helicopters. Run over by snowmobiles. Dynamited in their dens while they sleep. And it’s all completely legal. No animal deserves this fate, Friend. But if we don’t act soon, it could get even easier for hunters to viciously torture and kill wolves in droves. That’s because Big Polluters are using their massive influence to help trophy hunters strip away the last few protections wolves still have. If they get their way, they could wipe out wolves. All so they can take over their lands and open them up for destructive mining and logging. That would also destroy any possibility of wolves being able to recover in the future. Trophy hunters and Big Polluters have shown time and again that they care more about lining their pockets than the lives of wolves and survival of our planet. But Friend, is private profit really worth all of this bloodshed and destruction? Don’t let greedy corporate interests drive our last wolves to extinction. Donate $27 for wolves and the planet today. If you've saved payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately: [Donate $27 immediately]( [Donate $50 immediately]( [Donate $100 immediately]( [Donate another amount]( Believe it or not, wolves are vital to the ecosystems they live in. They help keep elk and deer populations in check, allowing other plant and animal species to thrive. What’s more, the remains of their kills redistribute nutrients and feed scavengers. They truly are a keystone species! That’s why each death of this iconic species is a big deal. Since a recent rule rolled back federal protections for gray wolves, the trophy hunting lobby has pushed for even more cruel and inhumane laws throughout wolves’ natural habitats. And even worse, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service could reinstate federal protections for these creatures -- but has still failed to do so! We can’t stand aside while our wolves are under attack. If even young pups aren’t safe from brutal hunters, this majestic species won’t stand a chance. Friends of the Earth is fighting back to end the bloody violence against our last surviving wolf packs. That means we’re fighting with everything we have to protect the Endangered Species Act. These protections blocked greedy fossil fuel companies from exploiting the land for profit. But it’s at risk to be opened up to fracking, drilling, and mining that create pollution and harm wildlife and nearby communities, too. We’re up against the powerful hunting lobby and their big industry allies, and we urgently need the help of activists like you to make sure we hit our crucial $5,000 goal. Please, Friend: if just 12 more generous supporters from your area make a $27 membership gift, we can reach our goal and help save wolves and the planet before time is up. Will you make your membership contribution today? Protect the remaining wolves and our planet from greedy private interests. Donate $27 before the clock strikes midnight and help us reach our $5,000 goal.
