But I have devastating news to share: In just the last year, the presence of Eastern monarch butterflies in their wintering grounds DROPPED 22%. And we could see further declines this winter. The weedkiller glyphosate -- found in Bayer-Monsanto’s Roundup -- is harming monarch butterflies and contributing to their decline. But it’s still the most widely used pesticide in the world. We need to get glyphosate out of our environment before monarchs are gone forever. [Stand up to Bayer-Monsanto before monarchs are wiped out forever! Donate $27 today and help us reach our $4,200 goal for monarchs and the planet.]( Monarch butterflies are in serious trouble. Greedy Big Pesticide corporations like Bayer-Monsanto continue to profit from butterfly-harming pesticides. Glyphosate is decimating milkweed. And milkweed is the only food source for young monarch caterpillars. With milkweed plants disappearing, we’re seeing devastating declines in monarch populations. This is serious, Friend. So serious that the International Union for Conservation of Nature has declared monarch butterflies ENDANGERED! Why, then, is Bayer-Monsanto still producing Roundup? The answer is simple: Big Pesticide corporations care more about lining their pockets than saving monarchs and our planet. We can fight back. But not without your help. Will you stand with us today? Don't let monarchs be driven to extinction: Donate $27 today to fight for their future and the planet and help us reach our $4,200 goal. If you've saved payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately: [Donate $27 immediately]( [Donate $50 immediately]( [Donate $100 immediately]( [Donate another amount]( Monarchs' migration patterns are uniquely impressive. They travel around 3,000 miles every year, providing invaluable pollination along the way. But the use of Bayer-Monsanto's Roundup has dramatically increased in recent decades, putting monarchs at risk. From 1987 to 2016, usage increased by over 2,600%! Why does this matter? Well, Roundup is killing off the only food monarch caterpillars depend on -- milkweed. Without milkweed, it is nearly impossible for monarch young to hatch and survive. But Bayer-Monsanto continues to mercilessly put its profits from Roundup over pollinators, people, and the planet. And to make matters worse, a recent study highlighted a frightening fact: every single sample of milkweed collected was contaminated with pesticides -- one-third with levels deadly to monarchs. Young monarchs are hatching on toxic pesticide-riddled milkweed. Their first meal may be their last. The dangers don't end there, Friend. Glyphosate is a probable carcinogen. It is also associated with reproductive harm in humans, along with disruption of the gut microbiome, kidney toxicity, and fatty liver disease. Farmers and homeowners are suing Bayer-Monsanto due to high rates of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma linked to the Roundup they've used on their farms and lawns. Roundup is causing extensive harm that must be stopped before it's too late. Help us stand up to Bayer-Monsanto and protect monarchs, people, and our planet. Monarch populations are in freefall. The time to act is now, while there are still monarchs left to save. At Friends of the Earth, we are fighting on every front to save these pollinators. Friend, we need you by our side as we ramp up our efforts to save monarchs from extinction and protect our planet. With each passing day, and as toxic pesticide use grows, we may only get the rarest glimpses of these beautiful butterflies. Future generations may never experience the beauty of seeing a monarch on a sunny day. Will you be one of the 8 people in your area today that helps us fight to protect them and our planet from toxic pesticides with your membership gift of $27 or more? Help us fight back against corporate greed and the toxic pesticides driving monarchs toward extinction and wreaking havoc on our planet. Rush your $27 gift today.
