[Friends of the Earth] Should we do more to stop Big Cruise from driving manatees to EXTINCTION? [YES]( [NO]( **This link has been generated specifically for {EMAIL}. Please do not share. Deadline for responses: 11:‌59 p.m. Friend, I have terrible news to share: 1,101 manatees died in Florida in 2021 – the deadliest year for manatees in our entire history. And just last year, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission reported another 800 manatee deaths statewide. So what's behind this recent surge in manatee loss? Starvation due to loss of seagrass beds from pollution-fed algae blooms, an issue that is only exacerbated by pollution from cruise ships. Cruise ships contribute to the destruction of vital seagrass that are manatees' No. 1 source of nutrition. They sail close to the shore and dump polluted wastewater, churning up sand and contaminants that all contribute to endangering water quality and seagrass beds. This leaves manatees suffocating from lack of oxygen in the water and at risk of starvation. So unless Big Cruise is stopped from destroying their habitats, these gentle creatures will continue to face severe threats to their survival. Friend, these sweet, slow-moving manatees don't deserve to die at the hands of Big Cruise companies. We can help them before it's too late, but we need you on our side to protect our waterways from toxic pollution and save this precious endangered species. But we can only do it with your urgent action today – and we still haven't heard your response to our official poll. So please, speak up now: Should we stop corporations from driving manatees to extinction? [YES]( [NO]( **This link has been generated specifically for {EMAIL}. Please do not share.
