URGENT ACTION NEEDED: Stop agribusiness giant Bunge from DESTROYING the world’s most biodiverse

URGENT ACTION NEEDED: Stop agribusiness giant Bunge from DESTROYING the world’s most biodiverse savanna! [Act now!]( The Brazilian Cerrado -- known as the birthplace of waters -- is the world’s most biodiverse savannah. The region is home to Indigenous, Afro-descendant, and traditional peasant communities that have lived on the land for generations. This globally-significant biome is also home to millions of unique, vibrant species. In fact, the Cerrado is a biodiversity hotspot containing 5% of ALL species on Earth. Yet the Cerrado is under attack as greedy soy companies like Bunge decimate this rich ecosystem, destroying native vegetation and violently displacing communities for profit. It doesn’t have to be this way, Friend. If enough people like YOU send a message to Bunge, we can pressure it to STOP abusing communities, destroying forests, and polluting rivers. [Will you stand up to Bunge and its destruction in the world’s largest and most threatened tropical savanna? Add your name by 11:59 pm TONIGHT >>]( [Sign the petition]( In 2022, agribusiness-driven deforestation hit a SEVEN-YEAR HIGH in the Brazilian Cerrado. The result has been increasing violence against communities, polluted rivers, and depleted soils. This level of destruction doesn’t just impact the immediate area. Clearing biodiverse landscapes for monoculture soy plantations sends TONS of carbon emissions into the atmosphere, accelerating the climate crisis. It’s hard to overstate the importance of a biome like the Cerrado. Like the Amazon, the region is a critically important carbon sink, home to Indigenous and traditional communities, and a habitat for species found nowhere else in the world. But Bunge’s business model is threatening to burn the birthplace of waters. [Please, Friend, take immediate action to fight Bunge’s greed-driven deforestation. We need 56 more people from your area to take action in order to meet our midnight goal!]( [Sign the petition]( Standing with you, Gaurav Madan Senior forests and lands campaigner, Friends of the Earth Contact Us: Friends of the Earth U.S. Washington, D.C. | Berkeley, CA 1-877-843-8687 [Contact us](foe.org/about-us/contact/) Email Preferences: [Click here to unsubscribe]( Learn more: www.foe.org/news www.foe.org/about-us www.foeaction.org Connect: [Facebook]( [Twitter]( [Flickr]( © 2021, Friends of the Earth.
