URGENT ACTION NEEDED: Tell the USDA to hold Big Ag accountable for disregarding animal welfare, misleading consumers, and attacking organic farming! When organic shoppers look for the organic label, they are trusting that the USDA has taken necessary steps to ensure the products are sourced from sustainable farms that treat animals humanely. But unlike most organic farmers who already meet the high-quality standards that consumers put their faith in, Big Ag has been fighting against a USDA rule that would close an important loophole -- even pushing the Trump administration to overturn this critical animal welfare rule in 2017. It’s imperative that we keep the organic label strong to provide a necessary alternative to factory farms that deprive helpless animals of outdoor access to fresh air, cramming them into tight spaces without enough room to move around, and even sometimes performing cruel and unnecessary physical alterations! Friend, don’t you think it’s time that the USDA does the right thing and holds Big Ag accountable for attempting to weaken the organic standard? [Demand urgent action from the USDA now! >>]( [SIGN THE PETITION]( We need you to stand up for organic farmers and animals, Friend. Even though Trump reversed the rule in 2017, we are so close to the USDA implementing the Organic Livestock and Poultry Standards rule (OLPS). The rule would ensure the humane treatment of animals on organic farms and give consumers the peace of mind that they deserve. And right now, we’ve got a critical opportunity to get this critical rule reinstated. Organic farmers, consumers, and animal activists overwhelmingly support the OLPS -- yet of course, major meat and dairy corporations don’t want stricter guidelines that will make it harder to compete against true organic farmers for profits. Even pesticides companies like Bayer have spent MILLIONS of dollars attacking the organic industry and covering up the dangers of their toxic products. But environmentalists like you know the truth, Friend -- that real organic farming is a sustainable climate solution that MUST be protected from Big Ag’s lies. [Add your name right now to tell the USDA to protect organic animals, consumers, and the environment by enacting the OLPS rule immediately! >>]( [SIGN THE PETITION]( Thanks for being a true climate champion, Friends of the Earth Contact Us: Friends of the Earth U.S. Washington, D.C. | Berkeley, CA 1-877-843-8687 [Contact us](foe.org/about-us/contact/) Email Preferences: [Click here to unsubscribe]( Learn more: www.foe.org/news www.foe.org/about-us www.foeaction.org Connect: [Facebook]( [Twitter]( [Flickr]( © 2021, Friends of the Earth.
