Dear Friend, Fight back against trophy hunting and Big Industry attacks on bears, their cubs, and our planet, and donate $27 today. If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately: [Donate $5/month immediately]( [Donate $27 immediately]( A mama bear, cuddling with her babies, stands and slowly steps outside to the blooming spring day. Her lethargic body struggles to take a step, but she is determined to find food for her cubs to recover from hibernation. Suddenly, a shot rings out -- and her body collapses to the ground, lifeless. As trophy hunters take her carcass, her babies are left orphaned and confused -- with no hope for survival. Now, trophy hunters and Big Polluters are looking to remove Endangered Species Act protections from grizzly bears so they can hunt this iconic species and use their habitats for private profit. [Don’t let them get away with decimating grizzly bears and our planet -- make your $27 contribution today and help us reach our $5,200 goal by midnight tonight!]( Bear cubs rely on their mothers for at least two years. If these mama bears are killed, their babies will be orphaned, left to starve, freeze, or be easy prey for other predators. States in the northern Rockies are already submitting plans for grizzly bear hunts -- even before the bears’ recovery has been assessed. We must stand up to protect threatened grizzly bears before their population plummets once again. Don’t let grizzly cubs become orphaned and left for dead. Protect vulnerable bears and our planet and make your $27 contribution today. If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately: [Donate $5/month immediately]( [Donate $27 immediately]( Grizzly bears were once abundant, roaming the continental U.S., with as many as 50,000 in the western half. But reckless human activity, like hunting, trapping, and habitat loss decimated their numbers to as little as 1,000 in the lower 48 states by 1975, when they were finally given protections. They’ve made slow progress, but efforts have helped get grizzly populations to just under 3,000 in the continental United States. If ESA protections are removed, decades of painstaking work to recover the iconic grizzly would have been for naught. If delisted, grizzlies could be treated as horribly as vulnerable wolves currently are -- with Wyoming allowing a shoot-on-sight approach across the state. Pro-trophy hunting officials are looking to steamroll the delisting of grizzlies without public comment or review, which means grizzly bears are coming dangerously close to being caught in the crosshairs during the next hunt -- we can’t let it come to that. Endangered species laws provide critical protection for America’s iconic animal species. They are also some of our most effective safeguards in the fight to protect our public lands and curb catastrophic climate change. For the sake of our wildlife and for the sake of our planet, we can’t let Big Polluters and their cronies in Congress destroy our public lands and wipe out our endangered species. Bear cubs may soon be left to starve or freeze to death. Protect them and our planet and make your $27 contribution today. If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately: [Donate $5/month immediately]( [Donate $27 immediately]( It’s not just grizzly bears that will suffer if their populations are devastated once again. Bears are intelligent creatures who enhance biodiversity, enrich soils, regulate prey populations, and transport nutrients through different ecosystems as they make their way through vast swaths of wilderness. It is clear that the Endangered Species Act works -- it's gotten grizzly bear recovery efforts this far. But Big Polluters’ attacks on the ESA also show that it is an essential tool to protect public lands as well. These protections extend to threatened species’ habitats by necessity, which means destructive activities like mining, logging, and factory farming are limited, if not banned from the habitats of these precious creatures. Now, these destructive industries are working alongside trophy hunting interests to remove ESA protections and exploit these lands for private profit. We can’t let it come to that, Friend. Your membership gift today can help us fight to protect the ESA, threatened bears, and our planet -- but we must act now. Make your contribution of $27 or more to Friends of the Earth now and help us reach our $5,200 goal before midnight tonight, while grizzly bears still have a fighting chance. Protect threatened grizzly bears and our planet from trophy hunters and private interests. Rush your $27 donation today.
