Dear Friend, Thank you for making a difference! [READ MORE]( Friends of the Earth members like you are fueling the fight for a healthy, thriving, and just world. Today, I wanted to take a moment to thank you for your contribution to saving our one and only Earth and all the life it supports. [See your impact.]( For over 50 years, Friends of the Earth has fought hard for people and the planet against polluting corporations and vested interests. And we’ve had some big victories, stopping polluting pipelines and ousting corrupt politicians. But none of this would be possible without you, our members. Your generous support fuels our fight for a healthy and just world. Your donations help us to hire campaigners, conduct groundbreaking research, and lobby for real, positive change in communities across the country. And your advocacy amplifies our voice as you join thousands of your fellow members to pile pressure on companies and politicians to put the planet before profits. Find out how your support is saving the planet! [READ MORE]( In 2013, following an alarming collapse in bee populations, we launched our Bee Action campaign to save bees from toxic pesticides like neonics. Neonics are the most widely used class of insecticides in the world, used on more than 140 crops from apples and almonds to rice and soybeans. But these same neonics can kill bees and have been tied to major pollinator declines. Because of neonics, U.S. agriculture has become nearly 48 times more toxic to bees since the 1990s, and we are seeing many types of wild bee populations take a nosedive towards endangered levels, like the American bumblebee. The same pesticides that threaten pollinators also harm human health, including the farmworkers and rural communities on the frontlines of exposure. And these same chemicals threaten the soil life that is the heart of regenerative agriculture, and therefore must be addressed in order to build healthy soils that sequester more carbon, enhance farmers’ resilience to climate change, and conserve water. Part of our strategy is to work with major grocery retailers in order to create pollinator protection policies in their supply chains. Thanks to this work and pressure from activists like you, we successfully moved 12 of the largest 25 food retailers in the U.S. – including Walmart and Costco – to address the toxic pesticides in their supply chains. This cartoon shows how members like you play such a vital role in this campaign. You can read in detail about the work your gifts make possible, how your relentless advocacy pressures corporate giants to do the right thing for bees, and how the campaign continues today. Read more about your impact on eliminating toxic pesticides from our food systems. [SEE YOUR IMPACT]( Fighting to save our planet is hard work. But your support inspires us every day, and we won’t give up until bee-killing pesticides are gone for good. We could not do this work without you. Thank you for being there with us, persisting after every setback and celebrating every victory. We are so proud to work with you to make the world a better place for bees.
