Last year alone, TWENTY-FIVE Yellowstone gray wolves were killed by violent trophy hunters â the most deaths on record in over two decades â and now, only 89 remain. Although gray wolves are federally protected by the Endangered Species Act in 44 states, they have NO federal protections in the greater Yellowstone region, including Montana, Wyoming and Idaho, allowing hunters free range to massacre wolf packs at an unprecedented rate. Trophy hunters will use some of the most horrific methods of murdering gray wolves in these states surrounding Yellowstone: Treasured gray wolves can be tortured by excruciating leg traps, choked to death by snares and violently run over by snowmobiles. Nursing wolf mothers and their pups can even be incinerated alive while peacefully resting in their dens. Without federal ESA protections for gray wolves in Idaho, Montana and Wyoming, these GRUESOME hunting practices are completely LEGAL. And without immediate protection, gray wolves donât stand a chance at survival. The Endangered Species Act isn't just a crucial line of defense for wolves against trophy hunters, but it also protects critical public lands that serve as their habitats from the destruction of the fossil fuel industry.
