Dear Friend, 20 Yellowstone wolves slaughtered: Stand up for wolves, other threatened species, and our planet with your gift of $27 or more! If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately: [Donate $27 immediately]( [Donate $5/month immediately]( Our worst fears have come true: 20 Yellowstone wolves were SLAUGHTERED -- a record for the area since wolves were reintroduced 25 years ago. This is a tragic setback for wolves in the park and across the country. [Stand up for the remaining wolves and our planet: Donate $27 or more today!]( These wolves, along with their pups, were roaming just outside park borders when they were mercilessly shot by hunters in Montana, Idaho, and Wyoming. This was the greatest number of wolves killed in a single hunting season since they were reintroduced in 1995 -- and wolf-trapping in Montana continues despite this tragic news! With only 94 wolves left in Yellowstone and 6,000 remaining in the entire continental United States, we need to do all we can to protect this iconic species. It is clear that trophy hunters will stop at nothing to retain their ability to senselessly kill these creatures, but with your help, Friends of the Earth can fight to protect wolves before they are gone forever. Hunting and trapping season is still not over and trophy hunters are slaughtering Yellowstone wolves. Protect wolves and other vulnerable species with your $27 gift today. If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately: [Donate $27 immediately]( [Donate $5/month immediately]( The coast is still not clear for Yellowstone wolves: we could see more of these creatures killed off before hunting and trapping season is over. More packs could meet the disastrous fate of the Phantom Lake wolf pack: essentially ELIMINATED within the span of two months. These are critical losses to the national park, where people from around the world travel to see these iconic and inspiring creatures roam. And it’s not just wolves in Yellowstone, Friend. Entire packs from states like Colorado and Oregon were also killed off due to hunting or poaching. America’s wolves are suffering thanks to the Trump Administration’s loosened wolf protections, many falling victim to baiting, trapping, choking in snares, and even being shot to death in their dens while they are sleeping. Because of the weaker safeguards, some states have decided to drastically increase wolf-hunting quotas or even eliminate them altogether! This has left the species incredibly vulnerable to over-hunting as we saw this last spring in Wisconsin, where 216 wolves were slaughtered in just under 60 HOURS -- blowing past the quota of 119. Despite this, wolf hunts in many states continued in the fall -- dealing a big blow to the already dwindling wolf populations. An entire Yellowstone wolf pack has been ELIMINATED. We need your help to protect remaining wolves: Make your gift of $27 or more today. If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately: [Donate $27 immediately]( [Donate $5/month immediately]( Wolves were once a common sight in the American wilderness, but years of hunting and poaching brought their numbers to near-extinction levels, until they received protections. Now, with wolves stripped of their ESA protections, the slaughter has returned -- with devastating effects: they have become functionally extinct in 85% of their former range across the continental U.S. The extinction of keystone species like wolves is not only devastating for the population, but for the entire ecosystem. Wolves help keep elk and deer populations in check, allowing other plant and animal species to flourish. The remains of their kill redistribute nutrients and feed scavengers. They play a vital role in our wild spaces, yet are being hunted mercilessly toward extinction. This is why we need you by our side, Friend. The attacks on wolves are mounting, and we need you to help protect them -- before their blood blankets the very forests that rely on them. Your membership gift of $27 or more today will allow us to fight for the relisting of wolves and other vulnerable species under ESA protections, protecting our ecosystems and our planet. Wolves are a keystone species that we can’t afford to lose, Friend. Make your $27 contribution to Friends of the Earth before it’s too late!
