Dear Friend, Find out how your support is saving the planet! [See Your Impact]( As a dedicated member of Friends of the Earth, your support has allowed us to fight for the future of our planet and the vulnerable species that inhabit it. Together, we are making strides in our work towards a healthier and more just world. [See your impact.]( You are powering change, Friend. Your donations supported efforts to protect our planet over corporate profits. You allowed us to keep up the fight for a truly safe and healthy food system by banning toxic pesticides like chlorpyrifos, protecting marine ecosystems and the people who live and work near them, and speaking up for iconic and endangered species across the country. Read more about your impact on banning toxic pesticides from our food systems. [See Your Impact]( Chlorpyrifos was a commonly used pesticide in our food systems, contributing to the over one billion pounds of pesticides used every year. This chemical is so toxic, there is no safe level of exposure for children. And it’s also highly toxic to bees. Bees and other pollinators are responsible for one in three bites of food we eat, so the stakes were high for pollinators, people, and the planet. For over two decades, Dow Chemical fought to keep chlorpyrifos on the market. Dow donated $1 million to Trump’s inauguration committee, and Trump refused to ban this dangerous pesticide. It was a tough fight, but Friends of the Earth and our allies across the country were in it for the long-haul. Slowly but surely, we began making headway: states like California and New York began banning this toxic pesticide, and feeling the pressure, Dow announced it would stop producing chlorpyrifos. Finally, in August of this year, Biden’s EPA officially banned chlorpyrifos on the national level! Find out how your support helped ban one of the most dangerous bee-toxic pesticides across the country! [See Your Impact]( This was only possible because you stepped up to the plate, Friend. You joined thousands of Friends of the Earth members in contacting your elected officials at the state and federal level, voicing the need to ban this bee-toxic pesticide from our food system and protect children, farmers, and farmworkers from its dangerous health impacts. Your support allowed us to produce our Bee Friendly Retailer Scorecard, which highlighted the harmful effects of chlorpyrifos and fueled lobby days in states like Maryland and New York to increase the pressure on legislators. Our work continues. Neonics -- another dangerous type of pesticide -- continue to wreak havoc on our pollinators. They are driving bees toward extinction and have also been linked to hormone disruption and damage to babies’ developing brains. With 41% of pollinating insects facing extinction, and the American bumblebee already gone in 8 states, we have our work cut out for us to ban neonic use and demand that grocers like Kroger stop selling food produced with bee-toxic pesticides. But this victory in banning chlorpyrifos proves that you can drive real change. You took the bold but necessary action we needed to save our pollinators, people, and the planet. Thank you for helping us create a meaningful movement for a just, sustainable world, Friend -- and I look forward to the victories we can achieve together in the near future! Our planet has a fighting chance with you by our side. Read more about your contribution to saving the Earth!
