Monarch butterflies are spiraling. Please, donate $10Â today and help us reach our $4,000 goal to protect these pollinators and our planet before we lose monarchs forever! Dear Friend, Monarch butterflies are spiraling. Please, donate $10 today and help us reach our $4,000 goal to protect these pollinators and our planet before we lose monarchs forever! If you've saved payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately: [Donate $10 immediately]( [Donate $27 immediately]( [Donate $50 immediately]( [Donate another amount]( Monarch butterflies have been declared vulnerable to EXTINCTION by the International Union for Conservation of Nature. And this year, we saw less than half the number of butterflies in their wintering grounds than we saw last year. To be exact, Eastern migratory monarch populations plummeted a staggering 59% this winter. There’s no denying it, Friend: monarch populations are in freefall – and if we don’t act soon, we could lose them forever. [That’s why we set an urgent $4,000 goal to fight for a future for monarchs and the planet we share with them! But we only have until midnight to hit this goal – so please, rush your gift now!]( Bayer-Monsanto’s Roundup is a key driver in these disastrous monarch butterfly die-offs. The weedkiller contains a chemical called glyphosate that kills milkweed — the ONLY plant where monarchs lay their eggs! Its widespread use has already decimated 850 million milkweed plants across the country, leaving fewer and fewer places for baby monarchs to hatch. Despite these alarming figures, corporations like Bayer-Monsanto continue to lie about the dangers of their pesticides. That includes serious health impacts for people, too. These giant corporations have manipulated science and dodged regulations designed to keep us and pollinators safe from the toxic effects of their pesticides. This isn’t right, Friend: monarchs, people, and our planet shouldn’t pay the price for Big Pesticide’s corporate greed. The greedy pesticide industry is putting monarchs, people, and our planet in peril. Fight back and make your $10 gift before the clock strikes midnight! If you've saved payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately: [Donate $10 immediately]( [Donate $27 immediately]( [Donate $50 immediately]( [Donate another amount]( Milkweed is more than just a place for monarchs to lay eggs, Friend. It’s also the ONLY food source for baby monarch caterpillars, making it vital for monarch survival. But with a massive increase in the usage of Bayer-Monsanto's Roundup, milkweed has been virtually wiped out across the U.S. — driving monarchs closer to the brink of extinction. Even the milkweed plants that survive aren’t always safe for monarch young. When toxic pesticides contaminate milkweed, a caterpillar’s first meal could become its last. A recent study found every single sample of milkweed collected was contaminated with pesticides known to harm or kill monarchs. These poor babies are dying before they get the chance to transform into the iconic orange and black butterflies you and I are so fond of. Glyphosate can harm people too, Friend. The chemical has been linked to cancer. Farmers and homeowners have been suing Bayer-Monsanto due to high rates of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma linked to the Roundup they've used on their farms and lawns. It’s also associated with reproductive harm in humans, along with disruption of the gut microbiome, kidney toxicity, and fatty liver disease. Roundup is causing extensive harm that must be stopped before the damage to people and our environment is irreversible. Our pollinators and our health shouldn’t pay the price for corporate greed. Make your $10 gift today toward our $4,000 goal to protect monarchs, people, and the planet. If you've saved payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately: [Donate $10 immediately]( [Donate $27 immediately]( [Donate $50 immediately]( [Donate another amount]( Monarch butterfly migrations used to fill the spring skies with great displays of orange and black. But this spring, the population has diminished to the point where many people may never see a monarch. And future generations may never have the chance to see them at all if monarchs keep dying at this rate. But that hasn’t stopped Big Pesticide corporations like Bayer-Monsanto from chasing their payday – no matter the cost to pollinators, people, and our planet. At Friends of the Earth, we’re not fooled by these pesticide industry lies, and we know you aren’t either. We are pushing Bayer-Monsanto to stop producing Roundup, pressuring garden retailers to stop selling harmful products like Roundup in their stores, and encouraging supermarkets to shift away from toxic pesticides and increase their offerings of organic food. Friend, we need you by our side as we ramp up our efforts to save monarchs from extinction and protect people and our planet. As toxic pesticide use continues to grow, we could be one of the last generations to know the joy of seeing a monarch on a sunny day. So please, before midnight TONIGHT – will you help us fight to protect monarchs, people, and our planet from toxic pesticides and greedy industry with your membership gift of $10 or more? The stakes are too high to let the pesticide industry wreak havoc on our planet. Donate $10 today and help us reach our $4,000 goal by midnight tonight!
