THIS IS URGENT: 135 deceased sea turtles were found with nearly 500 pieces of plastic combined in their stomachs. Take action now! THIS IS URGENT: 135 deceased sea turtles were found with nearly 500 pieces of plastic combined in their stomachs. [Take action now!>]( A new study of 135 loggerhead sea turtles on the shores of the Mediterranean has led scientists to an alarming discovery: Plastics of different sizes and types in nearly HALF of the deceased turtles totaling about 500 pieces of plastic! One sea turtle was even found with 67 pieces of plastic inside its little stomach. Another sea turtle had a piece of plastic from a child’s costume -- a witch finger which could easily be mistaken as a crab claw to an innocent sea turtle. We are not exaggerating, Friend, when we say that it only takes ONE single piece of plastic to KILL a sea turtle. Although the cause of death for these precious turtles were due to not only plastic pollution, it demonstrates the severity of plastic pollution and the impacts it has on vulnerable marine life. The plastic that invades our oceans is also invading our bodies. When plastic breaks down, it becomes MICROPLASTICS that are found in our food supply and even the air we breathe. Plastics do not ever DISAPPEAR, Friend…  We need to regulate plastic production and pollution NOW before it overwhelms our planet any further. We don’t need more plastic, we need solutions! [Will you help us, marine animals, and the planet? Sign our plastics petition before our 11:59pm deadline TONIGHT!>>]( [SIGN THE PETITION]( Big Plastic is one of the worst perpetrators of environmental havoc. Burning through TONS of fossil fuels during production, industrial-size plastic factories release tons of greenhouse gas emissions into the atmosphere. This is not only contributing to global warming but harming the health of nearby residents who are often low-wealth and/or communities of color. Plastic pollution affects us all, Friend. It is so invasive that it does not only show up in our food and water, but researchers have detected microplastics in breastmilk! This means babies in the womb and infants aren’t safe from chemical contaminants caused by plastic pollution. If we’re going to stop the plastic industry’s corporate pollution from hurting people, sea turtles, and the planet, then we need bold action from the federal government. That’s why we’re calling on 4,509 more environmentalists like you to join us by 11:59 P.M. TONIGHT in demanding that the Biden Administration take urgent action NOW to address the plastic pollution crisis. [Will you add your name right away before it’s too late to stop the PLASTIC APOCALYPSE from decimating our planet?]( [SIGN THE PETITION]( Thank you for taking action against plastic pollution, Friends of the Earth Contact Us: Friends of the Earth U.S. Washington, D.C. | Berkeley, CA PO Box 7010 Merrifield, VA 22116-7010 1-877-843-8687 [Contact us](foe.org/about-us/contact/) Email Preferences: [Click here to unsubscribe]( Learn more: www.foe.org/news www.foe.org/about-us www.foeaction.org Connect: [Facebook]( [Twitter]( [Flickr]( © 2017, Friends of the Earth.
