You’re a tiny grizzly bear cub nestled among your siblings inside the den. You?re a tiny griz

You’re a tiny grizzly bear cub nestled among your siblings inside the den. You’re a tiny grizzly bear cub nestled among your siblings inside the den. The others are asleep, but you notice that it’s been a while since your mama bear has returned home from her search for food. After a long hibernation season, mama bear must replenish herself in order to regain her strength so she can nurse her young cubs, like you. Your curiosity gets the best of you. Even though you’ve never left the den to the outside world, you crawl your way outside undetected. Tall trees hover above you, and the forest feels eerily silent at first. But suddenly, you hear a loud series of bangs followed by the unmistakable bellow of your mama crying out in excruciating pain. It’s a sound you’ve never heard before; mama bear is always so tough and brave, and hearing the raw wailing of your fierce protector brings a rush of fear, confusion, and sadness. Panic sets in as you frantically scan the surrounding area only to discover a gruesome scene: the forest floor is painted crimson as you notice blood spattered upon nearby tree branches, slowly dripping down from the trunks like sap. Just ahead, a deep red puddle is pooling around a large mass of brown fur that appears almost motionless sprawled across the dirt. As you approach the figure, you discover to your horror, it is your mama bear lying helplessly about to take her last breath. You observe the flesh wounds on her body, torn open and revealing her organs. Her paws are twitching, almost like she’s desperately trying to reach out and hold you, her baby cub, one more time. Then, in an instant, you watch the life fade from her eyes. You lay holding your mama bear’s mangled carcass for a moment savoring her warm embrace… but you must return to the den quickly. Because whatever evil threat has committed this horrific act of violence on your sweet mama is still out there. Sadly, you and your brothers and sisters will be too weak to survive on your own and will likely soon die of starvation or hypothermia. This tragic tale could become reality for many harmless bears whose protections are being targeted by violent trophy hunters. Right now, as hibernation season ends and springtime arrives, grizzlies are emerging from their dens. Weak, tired, and hungry, this is an extremely vulnerable time for bears — making them the perfect target for merciless trophy hunters who are waiting in the shadows to BRUTALLY ATTACK these defenseless animals. [We must act immediately if we are going to SAVE innocent mama bears and cubs from being savagely murdered. Please, Friend, take action now to protect grizzlies from being WIPED OUT by brutal trophy hunters >>]( [SIGN THE PETITION]( To make matters worse for these iconic mammals, extremist politicians are currently teaming up with the hunting lobby and other Big Polluters in an aggressive effort to REMOVE critical federal protections for grizzly bears listed under the Endangered Species Act (ESA). Without these life-saving ESA protections to rein in reckless hunters and prevent the blood massacre of grizzly bears, we could soon lose this treasured species forever. That’s why it’s URGENT that we build a strong grassroots coalition of activists like you who are willing to speak up and fight back. We need 4,201 more signatures on our petition by 11:59 P.M. TONIGHT to demand ESA protections for grizzlies. [Will you be a voice for defenseless bears today, Friend? Add your name now before violent trophy hunters push the last of our beloved grizzlies to EXTINCTION! >>]( [SIGN THE PETITION]( Thanks for using your voice to protect the planet and defend critical wildlife, Friends of the Earth Contact Us: Friends of the Earth U.S. Washington, D.C. | Berkeley, CA PO Box 7010 Merrifield, VA 22116-7010 1-877-843-8687 [Contact us](foe.org/about-us/contact/) Email Preferences: [Click here to unsubscribe]( Learn more: www.foe.org/news www.foe.org/about-us www.foeaction.org Connect: [Facebook]( [Twitter]( [Flickr]( © 2017, Friends of the Earth.
