URGENT ACTION NEEDED: The USDA is using your hard-earned taxpayer dollars to fund the polluting and abusive Big Meat and Dairy industry that’s threatening animals, public health, and our planet. [Take action now! >>]( Deprived of fresh air or sunlight, innocent animals are crammed into crowded areas. Mother pigs are shoved into pens that are too tight to even turn around in. Hens are forced in tiny cages where they’re unable to spread their wings. BILLIONS of animals are raised under filthy and cruel conditions at factory farms every year — producing massive amounts of toxic waste that contribute to global warming and pollute the air and nearby waterways. Nearby residents, who are often from low-wealth communities of color, are forced to endure the health risks of this industrial-scale factory farm pollution. Meanwhile, farmers in the industry who work under these dangerous and unsafe conditions are trapped in exploitative contracts with their mega-corporate employers like Tyson Foods and JBS. Yet despite the many risks that factory farms pose to people, animals, and our environment, the USDA has actually been SUPPORTING the worst Big Meat and Dairy corporations — both through taxpayer funded grants and government food purchases! [This is unacceptable, Friend, and we need to fight back against this abusive industry. Tell the USDA to STOP using your tax dollars to support factory farms now! >>]( [SIGN THE PETITION]( There are 24,000 factory farms currently operating in the country generating at least nearly a TRILLION pounds of manure yearly, which is TWICE as much as the sewage produced by the entire U.S. population! This alarming amount of toxic waste poses major risks to animal safety and public health, and it hurts the planet by significantly contributing to the climate crisis. Factory farms are a danger to people, animals, and the planet. And the greedy Meat and Dairy industry is driving smaller more sustainable farms and local dairies out of business. It’s time to stand up to these bullies, Friend. We urgently need 4,011 more activists like you to sign our petition by 11:59 P.M. tonight if we’re going to show the USDA that we have strong grassroots support against the Big Meat and Dairy industry. [Can we count on your signature right now to demand that the USDA ends its support for factory farming immediately? Add your name now! >>]( [SIGN THE PETITION]( Thanks for taking urgent action, Friends of the Earth Contact Us: Friends of the Earth U.S. Washington, D.C. | Berkeley, CA 1-877-843-8687 [Contact us](foe.org/about-us/contact/) Email Preferences: [Click here to unsubscribe]( Learn more: www.foe.org/news www.foe.org/about-us www.foeaction.org Connect: [Facebook]( [Twitter]( [Flickr]( © 2017, Friends of the Earth.
