BILLIONS of animals are raised under filthy and cruel conditions at factory farms every year — producing massive amounts of toxic waste that contribute to global warming and pollute the air and nearby waterways. Nearby residents, who are often from low-wealth communities of color, are forced to endure the health risks of this industrial-scale factory farm pollution. Meanwhile, farmers in the industry who work under these dangerous and unsafe conditions are trapped in exploitative contracts with their mega-corporate employers like Tyson Foods and JBS. Yet despite the many risks that factory farms pose to people, animals, and our environment, the USDA has actually been SUPPORTING the worst Big Meat and Dairy corporations — both through taxpayer funded grants and government food purchases!
