But gray wolves in the Northern Rockies aren’t celebrating. This winter was deadly for Montana wolf packs: hunters gunned down nearly 300 wolves across the state. Still, hunters want more: they’re aggressively fighting to remove life-saving protections for wolves and kill more and more of these innocent creatures every year. [Wolves don’t deserve to die like this. Donate $10 to Friends of the Earth for vulnerable wildlife and our planet before vital species like wolves are lost forever!]( Wolves function in families we all know as packs, Friend. And just like people, they mourn their dead . These sensitive canines lose their playfulness and spirit with the loss of a family member. Instead of howling together as a group, they turn to solitary, mournful cries in memory of their fallen relatives. As you read this, Montana wolves are grieving their dead instead of frolicking in the hopeful spring sun. Sadly, while hunting season might be over, wolves are still at risk. That’s because the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service recently decided NOT to relist gray wolves under the Endangered Species Act (ESA). Without ESA protections, the door is open to inhumane hunting methods like strangulation snares and longer hunting seasons . That means more senseless wolf deaths – and more mourning packs. We won’t stand for that, and we know you won’t either. Wolves can’t survive like this much longer. Donate $10 today to help protect vulnerable wildlife and our planet before it’s too late. If you've saved payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately: [Donate $10 immediately]( [Donate $27 immediately]( [Donate $50 immediately]( [Donate another amount]( Wolves can’t afford another hunting season like this – especially if these seasons are further extended. Frankly, we’re on the brink of losing one of North America’s most historic and nationally treasured animals, Friend. These iconic mammals aren’t just the adorable ancestors of the domestic dogs that we know as pets, but gray wolves also play a crucial role in maintaining our public lands and keeping our planet’s ecosystems in check. But despite the cultural value and environmental benefits that gray wolves provide, anti-wolf lawmakers are teaming up with the hunting lobby to strip away federal protections for this vulnerable species. If they get their way, they could wipe out wolves for good. Big Polluters have joined the fight, too. That’s because the ESA is a bedrock legislation that protects species and public lands from mega-polluting industries and their allies. The ruthless attacks on the ESA prove that it works! But if the ESA is dismantled, Big Polluters will have free rein to take over public lands and open them up for destructive mining and logging. That would also destroy any possibility of wolves being able to recover in the future. Extremist legislators and Big Polluters are determined to make it completely legal for merciless trophy hunters to recklessly massacre gray wolves without consequence. And they’ve got the leverage and resources to make it happen. That’s why your support is so crucial today: it’s going to take each and every one of us to stop these deadly plans. Don’t let greedy corporate interests drive our last wolves to extinction. Donate $10 for vulnerable wildlife and our planet today! If you've saved payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately: [Donate $10 immediately]( [Donate $27 immediately]( [Donate $50 immediately]( [Donate another amount]( Only 6,000 wolves remain in the lower 48 states. But the recent decision by the FWS ignores science-backed wolf recovery practices and puts these populations at serious risk. And it opens them up to a slew of brutal hunting methods. Already, hunters use steel traps that leave wolves reeling for days in futile attempts to escape. In some states, it’s completely legal to dynamite nursing wolf pups and their mamas in their dens. The violence against our last surviving wolf packs has to end. It’s not too late to make a difference, Friend. With your help, we’re pushing back against vicious attacks on the ESA and the greedy corporations that want to dismantle it. Your membership gift today can help us continue this planet-saving work and protect our only Earth. But we’re up against some powerful foes. You and I both know that wildlife and our planet are more important than corporate profit. But private trophy-hunting interests and Big Polluters have seemingly bottomless resources to get their way. That’s why I’m asking for your help today. We are falling $2,044 short of our goal. But if just 1 in 12 people reading this makes a $10 contribution today, we can close the gap and make real change for vulnerable wildlife and the planet. Will you stand with us today? Greedy interests can’t be allowed to drive wolves to extinction. Donate $10 immediately to fight for wildlife and the planet!
