VC + Startups 🎯 - IriusRisk, a Spanish cybersecurity startup raises €29 million to expand globally. The tech startup is empowering clients to have built-in security. - Jomigo, a Berlin-based startup raises its first seven-figure investment to furthe scale and develop its B2B recruitment marketplace. - Foodsi, a Warsaw-based startup developing a platform that allows its users to buy surplus food from restaurants, bakeries and shops, raises €1.24 million in seed money, for the startup to increase its reach globally. - Gourmey, a French startup working on lab-cultivated meat and more specifically foie gras raises €48 million to move to commercialisation. - Sympatient, a Hamburg-based digital health startup raises €7.5 million to expand the offering into a so-called ‘Digital Anxiety Clinic’, a comprehensive digital treatment for anxiety disorders. Crypto 👾 - Asset manager Fidelity, which has USD4.5 trillion on its book registered its Fidelity Ethereum Index Fund, suggesting strong interest from clients. c - Payments giant Mastercard is launching Crypto Secure, a new software product designed to help banks and other card issuers identify and block suspicious transactions from crypto exchanges. c - Popular Ethereum NFT project Moonbirds will adopt community governance through a DAO—or decentralized autonomous organization that will let members vote on proposals. It is set to launch in early 2023. Law and regulation 🕵️ - In a setback for Apple, European lawmakers voted for a law requiring all new portable devices to use the same type of charging cable from 2024 for smartphones and tablets and from 2026 for laptops. c - Microsoft has created a dedicated webpage for its ongoing Activision Blizzard acquisition, ahead of the Nov. 8 European Commission deadline to approve the deal or to launch a further investigation into the deal. Twitter deal is one of the largest buyouts in history After months of back and forth between Elon Musk and Twitter, the Tesla billionaire announced he will agree to take Twitter private at the original deal of USD54.20 per share. If the deal goes through it will be one of the largest leveraged buyouts in history.
