One reason I am a serial entrepreneur is because I don't like "dull moments". The thought of staring at a clock waiting for time to pass by or doing the same thing every single day sounds like torture to me! Now, don't get me wrong, I know with any and every business out there are parts to it that aren't fun to do. And as I'm a little older and hopefully a tad wiser, I know I need to do those things that aren't always fun. But I also know that I can still have a lot of fun in this business and get paid for it! Take yesterday for example... It was just a normal Thursday afternoon and I get a text from one of my vendors at the flea market who has now become a friend. He told me he had something really cool for me to come check out. He sent me a picture of a heavy duty stretcher! I looked it up and thought I could get around $1,000-$2,000 for it so I went to meet up with him and see if we could make a deal. Oh... and when I got there it wasn't just one stretcher I was staring at. There were 12! Jackpot! Now to see if we could negotiate on the deal. He started higher than he knew I wanted to spend and I started lower than I knew he wanted to sell them for. It's always a dance and negotiating can be quite fun when you do it enough and have respect for the other person. Then we came to an agreement. And one I was pretty proud of! We agreed on $2,200 for the lot of 12 which brought the price per unit to $183. But! I got him to agree to letting me give him $100 on the spot (that's all I had at the moment), take one of them and try to sell it and then come back and pick the rest up at the end of next week (hopefully with the one unit sold already.) One sale will pay for the entire lot of them! There are two different kinds so half of them will sell for around $2,000 and the other half should sell around $4,000 each! That should be a nice $30K profit to kick off the year! (I think they should sell pretty quickly too). I already listed the one I got last night and had one offer for $2,300! I didn't take it but that is promising! One huge point to this whole story is to create relationships. It's something we talk about a lot and creating relationships usually helps everyone out. I have spent a lot of money with this vendor over the years. And in turn he has made me a lot of money! And it just starts by simply being nice to people and starting a conversation. I always say hi to all the vendors at the flea market and managers at thrift stores. And once they see you over and over again you can start making more conversation and they know the types of items you look for. Yesterday was a fun and exciting day and It will be another fun and exciting day when the cha-ching sound goes off! Thankful that this flipping business is never a dull moment!
