Do you get jazzed up when you start a new side hustle or get a new business idea? If so you are in good company. It's called shiny object syndrome and it's something super common with entrepreneurs and those who are looking to make an extra income stream for their family. I've dealt with it my entire life. I must have started over 20 different side hustles and businesses since I was a kid. They all started out with an awesome idea! Like the time I was going to open up a parasailing business with my buddies. I bought a parasail from the flea market, and the plan was to give parasail rides around our chain of lakes. I mean, how cool and fun does that sound for a business right?! Nothing could go wrong - especially buying the parasail from the flea market. Actually the parasail was the least of the problems. The problem was I didn't know how to properly set it up and thought I would just try it out before learning really how. So I put my life vest on (the smartest decision with this whole situation), strapped myself to the parasail, and my buddy hit the gas on the boat. The first problem was I was strapped in backwards. So when I was lifted off the ground, the sail turned me upside down. I was flying up there backwards. But it even gets better. We had purchased the rope and clasps from Walmart and apparently didn't get the strength we needed because shortly after takeoff, the clasp broke unter tension and flung up and hit me in the back of my head. I got knocked out and fell into the water. My friends drove over to pull me out of the water and I came to. But we decided a parasailing business may not be the best idea to move forwards with.. (I still have the parasail and I'm trying to convince Melissa to let us try it again. With YouTube now I'm sure we can figure it out..) And that was just one idea that I ran with. There were so many more! It wasn't until my brother in law told me if I would just focus on one thing, I could be successful at it. That stuck with me and I really started to take my flipping business seriously.
