[2. Are More Moderate Democrats More Electable?](
[SILVERBULLETPOINTS-nate-4×3](
I have a dilemma for you, dear reader. I have a righteous little bulletpoint-sized rant to make about ill-informed media coverage of polling in the recent Australian election. But this column, Silver Bulletpoints, promises to give you three items about the 2020 Democratic primary in 300 words or less. And while Iâm sure Pete Buttigieg speaks fluent Guugu Yimithirr or something, the Democratic primary doesnât really have much to do with Australia. So instead of using up one of this weekâs bulletpoints on Australia, weâre including a bonus Australia-related bulletpoint at the end of this weekâs column. For now, though, letâs stick with the Democrats â¦

[5. Where The Algorithms Canât Find You](
[DATA-ART-4×3](
A man wearing a red flannel shirt and brown suspenders walks into a clearing. His beard is well kempt, the same off-white as the snowmelt behind him. âGood afternoon,â he says to the camera. âItâs Friday, Oct. 12.â Slowly, he extends his arms. Two birds swoop down from the trees, alighting on his hands. âYou can see how much I love my whiskey jacks. Iâm feeding them my home-baked bread,â he says. The whiskey jacks peck, then take off with their spoils. âGotta love it,â the man says. âTheyâve been my friends for years.â A small wave at the camera: âI hope you have a great day where you live.â

[7. Can A Republican Governor Lose In Kentucky?](
[MCa7OG2sRImKs5mbv+Cjfw_thumb_685](
Down the stretch they come! No, itâs not the Kentucky Derby — today, Kentuckians will vote for governor in their party primaries. Incumbent Gov. Matt Bevin will likely win renomination in the Republican contest despite being incredibly unpopular. But Democrats have a competitive three-way race between state House Minority Leader Rocky Adkins, state Attorney General Andy Beshear and former state auditor Adam Edelen. Beshear appears to be in the lead, but itâs unclear how big that lead really is and whether a Democrat can even still win a general election in a state that is now so deeply red.

[8. Who White Democrats Vote For In 2020 Could Be Shaped By Why They Think Clinton Lost](
[XMPd%JZJTOqgq6gPMR1+Hg_thumb_688](
Every election is followed by an attempt to explain its outcome. One of the more common explanations of the 2016 presidential election was that Hillary Clinton lost because she relied on âidentity politics.â So we were curious: Would white Democrats be inclined to choose a different type of 2020 candidate if they were told that Clintonâs 2016 loss was caused by identity politics? We conducted a survey to find out, and the short answer is yes, but with one big caveat: While womenâs preferences shifted substantially, menâs views remained largely unaltered.

[10. How Winning The White House Could Cost Democrats The Senate (At Least Temporarily)](
[Elizabeth Warren Holds Press Conference Opposing Supreme Court Nominee Kavanaugh](
Democrats have a challenging path to capturing the Senate in 2020. Republicans currently have a 53-47 majority, which means that to take control, Democrats will need, at a minimum, a net gain of three seats and the vice presidency (the VP breaks ties in the Senate). But even if Democrats pick up exactly three seats and win the White House, they could still miss out on controlling the Senate. How? If the new president leaves behind a vacant Senate seat in a state with a Republican governor.
