The move is likely to slow the economy but is seen as necessary to bring prices under control. [Social Security recipients may see their cost-of-living adjustments]((COLAs) shrink in 2024, as inflation has slowed from its peak last year. The COLA is a measure of how much Social Security benefits increase each year, and it is based on the Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers (CPI-W). If inflation continues to slow, the COLA for 2024 could be the smallest in decades. [Credit card interest rates have hit a record high of 20.69%,]( as the Federal Reserve continues to raise interest rates to combat inflation.
