And that’s understandable. They do have quite a bit in common. Both generations grew up watching viral videos and nurturing friendships online. And they entered the workforce during a tough job market. Millennials had the Great Recession of 2008. After graduating college, some had to move in with their parents and settle for being part-time sandwich artists and baristas making snazzy latte art. Gen Z? They had the COVID-19 pandemic. This unlikely event shut down the same part-time jobs millennials relied on at the same age. So Gen Z had to adapt. [Making money online]( through YouTube videos, TikTok, and the gig economy became their “new normal.” And this “new normal” brought some other interesting money habits, like: - Having a lower percentage of student debt (but some Gen Zers aren’t 18 yet). - Saving and investing more — Gen Z has $360 billion in disposable income. - Thrifting. Some make up to $300K reselling on apps like Poshmark! - Using social media hacks to improve their personal finances. Gen Z is a pretty inspiring bunch, aren’t they? They refuse to be complacent with any ol' boring office job, and they take side hustlin' to the next level. They’d rather forge their own path and work — and live — at their own pace.
