“They” hold all the power … Build wealth better than the 1% | Friday, April 8, 2022 Received this on accident? [Unsubscribe here](. [Worthy by FinanceBuzz] [Worthy by FinanceBuzz]( Today’s rec: Check for retirement accounts you may have with previous employers and start the rollover process. It’s easier to keep track of growth when everything is in one place. BUILD YOUR NET WORTH - See why your household chores are only worth [$15 an hour](. - Relocate from [these overpriced states]( to avoid soaring gas prices. - Turn your phone into a [fountain of “figurative” gold](. NEWSWORTHY 12 members of a highly secretive group hold all the power to force you to pay higher interest rates. Why? [Hooded Figures](#) Deep in the halls of a nondescript Washington, D.C., building sits an unmarked and unnoteworthy room. This is where the 12 mysterious members of the “F.O.M.C.” meet, no less than eight times per year. In the middle of this room stands an oversized lever, about the height of a large German Shepherd. Curiously, the side of the lever displays markings of percentage points, ranging from 0% to 2.5% in quarter-percent increments. As the sun sets outside the walls of the building, the 12 members slowly advance like a pride of lions. A single arm extends forward and grabs the lever, pulling it sharply a full quarter percent to 0.5%. You might know this mysterious “F.O.M.C.,” even if you don’t realize it. It’s the Federal Open Market Committee. Also known as ''The Fed.'' And the lever they just pulled in this fictitious (or not?) story represents federal interest rates, which they just raised a quarter percentage point in March … the first such rate increase since 2018. It’s how The Fed is addressing those [sky-high prices]( you’re experiencing when buying a home, at the grocery store, and at the gas pump. More rate increases are planned. Our prediction? Maybe it works, maybe it doesn’t. Just wish they weren’t so damn secretive about it … Plus, there are other ways to [deal with inflation on your own](, thank you very much. Like [paying points down]( to get a lower mortgage rate or [procuring groceries in “strange” ways]( to avoid inflated costs. And if you’re over forking over twice as much as you did last year at the gas pump, well … we wish we had a solution for you. But you might just be [💩 out of luck](. MARKET MOVES 🚛💨 People are worried about a recession right now, due to the recent yield curve inversion. But not everyone is panicking, especially if they’re looking at … heavyweight truck sales? Yes, truck sales — which have peaked before every recession since the ‘70s — have been a reliable indicator for coming recessions. And right now, they’re not anywhere near their past peaks.
