This is the best definition I've heard ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ?

This is the best definition I've heard ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ I’m reading a book called Shantaram and one of the sections I read last night really stood out to me. Three characters are taking about what they believe to be the best thing in the world. Here’s how it plays out… The main woman said: “Being listened to - really listened to - is the second-best thing in the world.” The main guy said: “What’s the first best thing?” The woman: “Everybody knows that. The best thing in the world is power.” The main man: “Oh, is it?” I asked, laughing. “What about sex?” The woman: “No. Apart from biology, sex is all about power. That’s why it’s such a rush.” Another guy walks in and says: “You would say that I think money is the best thing in the world. And we’d both be right. Any sane and rational person one day realizes that money is almost everything. The great principles and noble virtues are all very well, in the long run of history, but from one day to the next, it’s money that keeps us going. And the lack of it that drives us under the great wheel. And what about you Lin, what did you say?” The main man: “Well, if you press me, I’d have to say freedom.” The other dude: “The freedom to do what?” He asked, putting a little laugh in the last word. The main man: “I don’t know. Maybe just the freedom to say no. If you’ve got that much freedom, you really don’t need any more.” That single sentence is, in my opinion, about as profound as it gets. The freedom to say no. If you look at the other two answers it makes them obsolete. What is more powerful than the ability to say no? And what about money? you don’t need endless money. Just enough to be able to say no to what you want to say no to. That amount is different for each person, but it still makes sense. The freedom to say no. I’ve always said that freedom is the most important thing to me. However, in reading that sentence I feel like it was defined even better. The addition of “no” makes it so clear. That’s what so many people on this earth want. The ability to say no things they don’t want, and yes to things they do want. That's why I've built my life in a very specific way to ensure I have the freedom to say no. Anyways, that's what I'm thinking about today... ...maybe it was helpful to some of you. Talk soon, Ian "no" Stanley P.S. I created a course called 90 Days to Freedom that helps people escape lives of working for other people. Hundreds of people have used it to make $5,000 to $10,000 a month or more just writing simple emails like these...
