One of the greatest lines in TV history was said by Daniel LaRusso. The Karate Kid himself. But it wasn’t in one of the original Karate Kid movies. It was in one of the new Cobra Kai episodes on Netflix. In the series, Daniel LaRusso and his arch enemy Johnny Lawrence hate each other. But they have certain moments where they have to work together to defeat their enemies. Because all white dudes in their mid 40’s still fight other grown men in karate battles right? The show is outrageous, but it’s super entertaining. Btw, I’m team Lawrence all the way. Daniel was the real bully in the original movies. If you watch them back from a different perspective you’ll see what I’m talking about. Anyways… One of the best lines comes when Johnny Lawrence is entering a gas station to grab some food. Daniel stops as Johnny is walking in. Johnny turns around and says: "What? Are you too good for gas station food?" Daniel-san pauses. Then says "You know what, I think I am." In that moment, I was team Daniel-san. I’m not an elitist about too many things in my life, but I’m too good for gas station food. Who’s eating those day old hot dogs anyways? I’ve never understood it. So why am I telling you about gas station food and the Karate Kid? Because one of the best copywriting lessons I ever learned was from Mr. Miyagi in the original Karate Kid movie. I realized that the way he was teaching Karate to Daniel-San was actually completely wrong. (I know that may upset some people, but you’ll understand what I’m talking about if you go through the 8020 Email Copy Crash Course.) When I was watching that iconic "wax on wax off" scene I realized he was demonstrating one of the best types of emails you could ever write to an email list to make sales. I call it the Mr. Miyagi email. Creative, I know. It’s just one of the different types of emails I teach in the 8020 EC3 course. If you wanna learn the most profitable email types you should check it out. It’s on sale for the second time in the last 9 years. I’ll never make it this inexpensive ever again. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables. Usually, a reading ease score of 60-70 is considered acceptable/normal for web copy.
