In Norway I spent time with a guy who was basically a real-life Jason Bourne. He was a Green Beret, then in Delta Force (the tier 1 unit in the Army), then in a group with a three letter agency that technically doesn't exist. I won't share his name because I'm not quite sure what I can share. I learned a lot from this guy over the 8 days we hung out. I planned on joining Special Forces after college but some unexpected circumstances got in the way of that dream. (Which I talk about in my book.) So I always feel connected to people who served at that level. And this guy served at the HIGHEST level possible. Now he consults for some government projects around human performance. The stuff he's doing is beyond anything that the general public is aware of at the moment. During one of our learning sessions he shared a little tidbit that really stood out to me. See, he consults for billionaires on some different topics. So he's spent more time around them than most people ever will. He said "You know what billionaires do for their "morning routine"?" "They get shit done. They get up and they get after it. They don't bullshit around with a bunch of stuff. They do what needs to be done. THEN they ice bath, sauna, journal, and all that stuff. They spend the first couple hours doing DEEP work. Then they do the other stuff." Now, that's obviously not exactly earth shattering new knowledge. It also confirms my own experience of when I'm my most productive. I wake up, do a quick meditation, have a coffee, then write. But he said something after that first paragraph that I hadn't heard before. "When you get your important shit done in the morning, you sometimes get hit with a second wave of creativity. You take the ice bath and another idea hits. Now that you've already created in the morning, the pressure is off, and you can create again, almost by accident." That really stood out to me. I know exactly what he was talking about. If I don't write my daily email in the morning, it hangs over my head all day. There's an invisible pressure sitting on my shoulders. It stifles all other creativity. The days I get my daily email done first thing, I'm free to do whatever I want with the rest of my day. Sometimes that's non money-making activities like exploring a city in Europe, playing Ticket to Ride, or watching tv in the middle of the day. Other times it's working on my fiction novel, creating a new course, writing something important, or making silly videos. The point is, when you get the important or creative stuff done early, it actually gives you the energy to do more creative stuff because the pressure valve is released. I thought it was a really powerful insight so I just wanted to share it. If you're interested in how to make more in the first hour of your day than most people make in 8 hours, you should check out my 7 Day Money Morning Challenge. People absolutely love it. It'll help you identify exactly WHAT you should work on first thing in the morning. Cuz figuring out the RIGHT thing to work on is the first step. [ Click here to check it out]( That's all for today. I wrote this email first thing and I can't wait to see what creativity strikes later in the day.
