Last week I was responding to a hilarious email from a subscriber in response to an email I wrote on Monday. People have loved it so I'm gonna continue this series of my responses. For those who missed it...here's a little recap...then I'll go into my response for today. Her response was hilarious to me because her advice was some of the worst I've ever heard. Although she genuinely wrote it from a nice place so I'm not gonna share her name or be mean. But I need to share what she wrote because it's a perfect example of what NOT to do in email marketing. Her words are in italics. I'll give my responses after you read what she said. Thanks for the email! I appreciate your concern. I know marketing is hard so I would like to offer some tips to you in return for your effort. 1. KEEP IT SHORT Your email is too long. People don't like to read this much. Keep it short! People hate to read a lot and will not want to read your long script of an email. 2. WORD CHOICE MATTERS Words like poo-pooing and Anti-Labor Day sale work against you. It upsets people and not everyone is going to read beyond the title. Rather than this approach, saying that you are taking all the labor out of shopping for email templates would have worked better. 3.) PICTURES ARE A MUST You can show people what you are offering better than telling them. You have no pictures! To advertise, pictures are a must because they show your customer what they can get and that image makes them want your product even more. TRY AGAIN! I SUPPORT YOU! I do not want your email templates. However, I would love for you to succeed so I am sending this advice instead. Best of luck, from one marketer to another! First off, I just have to say something honest and genuine as a response... Hahahahahahahahahaha. Holy lord. Simply the worst advice I've seen in a long time. Yesterday I responded to her suggestion about word choice. Today I'll talk about the part where she said "it upsets people." 2. It upsets people and not everyone is gonna read past the title. Okey dokey. Here we go. First off, I don't care if I upset people. It's never my goal, but if it's a by product me being authentic to myself then I genuinely don't care. In fact, I welcome it. I want hardcore fans. I want people who love me or hate me. I don't want luke warm people who kinda like me or don't really have an opinion. If I was being malicious and mean and I upset people then I'd feel bad. But that's not what I do. I tell my truth and allow people to react in their own way. People are allowed to disagree with me. They're allowed to hate me. They're also allowed to agree with me and love me. It's not my job to pander to the masses and make sure everyone is happy. (That's the job of Hollywood in 2023 and it's not working.) My only job is to be me. Whether people like that or not is not up to me. And when it comes to selling and making money...I want people to FEEL things. I have a whole chapter in my book, Confessions of a Persuasion Hitman, about a concept I created called Feelings In Advance. (You can [grab the book here]( See, the more people FEEL, the more they buy. Feelings drive action. Feelings drive change. Feelings drive connection. People often claim to buy things because of logical decisions. But most of the time they buy based on feelings and then justify their decision with logic. Logic doesn't build deep connections. Feelings do. If you write in a way that doesn't make people feel things, they won't bond with you. They won't buy as much from you. And they'll likely stop paying attention to you overall at some point. So don't be afraid of upsetting people. Don't set out to piss people off. But don't let someone else's anger stop you from saying what you believe in. Or stop you from having fun or doing things your way. All that being said, if you wanna do the opposite of this woman you should buy my templates. You can get every template I've created in the last 5 years for just $497. It's normally $10 per template. But you get 300 templates so it's only $1.66 per template. [ Click here to grab every template]( Or you can join the Emails of the Month Club for $47 per month. On the first upsell you'll be able to get every template ever for just $297. And you'll get 5 new templates that go out today (Thursday) at 3pm pacific time. And you'll get my "Trust Funnels" course that teaches you how to turn low-ticket buyers into high ticket buyers without being a salesy d-bag. [ Click here to join the club]( Either way, I hope today's email lesson was valuable for you.
