I'm almost done rewatching Michael Jordan/Chicago Bulls documentary for the second time. It is AMAZI

I'm almost done rewatching Michael Jordan/Chicago Bulls documentary for the second time. It is AMAZING. If you haven’t watched it yet, I recommend you do. It’s a ten part series. If it doesn't inspire you, there might be something wrong with your brain. It’ll make you want to do two things: 1. Become the best version of yourself and fully commit yourself to something like MJ did. 2. Smoke a cigar. He smokes so many cigars and he just looks great doing it haha. I haven't had a cigar in quite awhile...but I think I'm gonna have one tomorrow night. It’s actually kinda funny. I posted a poll on my Instagram the first time I watched the documentary and said "What did the Michael Jordan documentary make you wanna do? Be Great or Smoke a Cigar? 79% said smoke a cigar haha. But that’s not the purpose of this email. The purpose of this email is to talk about Michael Jordan and his unrelenting commitment to get what he wanted. I also just watched the movie Air that told the story of how Nike signed Michael Jordan. It's amazing too. MJ said to be worth 2.1 billion dollars. (Probably more.) See, Michael did things differently than everyone else. He had a genius agent who uttered a sentence that blew me away. It’s the sentence that made Michael a billionaire. (I’ll tell you that sentence tomorrow. And I’ll tell you how MJ and I are similar. And no, it’s not our vertical leap stats. Although I do got some hops.) His agent helped set up the deal with Nike that led to the creation of Air Jordans…despite the fact that Michael did NOT want to work with Nike. When Nike made the Air Jordans they had a goal: $3,000,000 from shoe sales in 4 years. They sold $126,000,000 in the first year ALONE. How nuts is that? This is when he was a rookie. Not when was a celebrity beyond celebrity. His endorsement became one the most valuable things any company could ever hope to have. $126,000,000 in the first year is beyond insane. This was in 1985. The reason his shoes sold so much wasn't because they were the coolest shoes ever made. Yes, they were cool. And it played a role. But the real reason they became the best selling shoe of all time is because of WHO was wearing the shoes. If MJ played mediocre basketball, the shoe sales would've been worse than mediocre. HIs insane performance on the court is what drove sales. His focus on his craft was beyond anything I've ever seen. Michael Jordan played basketball in the era before social media or smartphones. If you watch the documentary you'll see clips of him in the locker room just sitting there smoking a cigar. He isn't doing anything. He's just sitting there thinking about basketball. He's visualizing. He's imagining victory. He's undistracted. He's not looking at instagram. He's not checking his email. He did read newspapers. But whenever he read about people hating on him he just turned it into fuel to make him better. A lot of athletes today become amazing early in their career when they're undistracted. But once they hit a certain level of fame they get distracted. They do a movie deal. They start a liquor brand. They become more focused on leveraging their fame than working on what made them famous. Read that again. They stop doing the things that made them famous. As a result they become worse at their craft. MJ didn't make that mistake. Even when he filmed Space Jam he played MORE basketball than normal. He was COMMITTED to making his dreams a reality. I can't help but be inspired by him. As part of my own commitment to my goals, I just started testing out a new visualization exercise today called "scripting." I liked my first session a lot. I'll let you know how it goes as I keep practicing it. That's all for today. Tomorrow we’ll talk about how what Michael Jordan and I have in common. (Hint: It’s not our net worth or basketball skills.) Talk soon, Ian "I love MJ" Stanley P.S. There are three ways you can work with me directly whenever you want… 1. You can hire me as a consultant for your company where I do a weekly call with you or your team. This includes some writing and split testing done for you. It’s $25,000 per month and I can only take on 2 clients at a time. I currently have one open spot. Reply to this email if you’re interested. 2. You can do a consulting day with me in Boise, ID. It’s $10,000 for the day. Or I will fly to you for $18,000 plus first class flights each way. Reply to this email if you’re interested. 3. You can "hire me" as a fractional consultant for $2,500 a quarter by joining my mastermind called The Collective. I do weekly calls with the group. They’re focused on cold traffic, email strategy, funnels, upsells, sales pages, and landing pages. You can submit your copy, funnels, and questions every week. Reply if you're interested in that.
