The other day I told you that I’ve re-dialed in my morning routine to get the most out of the day. So what are the specifics and how did I get here? j Well, my student, friend, and email collective member wrote a book called Create First, Consume Second. It’s not available for purchase yet but the author, Joshua Sprague, sent it to me to check it out. I’m so fucking glad he did. It’s seriously amazing. And I don’t say that about much. I’m not the type of guy who’s gonna say something good just because my friend did it. I’m too honest for that. I can’t lie. Sometimes I wish I could, but I can’t. The book was a reminder of the path I’d stopped following. Some of the material in the book is similar to what I teach in the Money Morning Challenge. (And he mentions me in the book.) But he made it all WAY better. And he made it way simpler. I read the book in one sitting because I couldn’t put it down. It was unreal. I just kept nodding my head like “why the hell have I been complicating this so much.” So last week I put it into practice. The results have been amazing. On Thursday I wrote my morning email and then I wrote a full chapter of my new book that’s ALMOST done. I was in such an intense flow state that I skipped my morning workout because I was too into what I was writing. I didn’t take my phone out of airplane mode until about 10:30am. There’s a DIRECT correlation between when I first check my phone and how much I get done. And not just how much I get done, but the quality of the work I do. I was riding high all day because I felt so accomplished by 10:30am. So here’s the exact schedule I’m currently following. Monday and Friday I don’t wake up to an alarm and I don’t have any calls or meetings. Those days are for pure deep work. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday I set an alarm for 7:30am. Also my phone is airplane mode with no wifi or Bluetooth connected before I go to sleep. Then here’s what happens. 1. I hit snooze on the alarm. I do the money magnet and second self meditation which takes about 9 minutes…so when the next alarm goes off I get out of bed. 2. I “take care of business” and then weigh myself. 3. I take a quick cold shower or at least dunk my head under cold water. 4. I make coffee. 5. I sit down at my “writing desk” which is different than my “work desk.” I put on headphones and play my writing playlist that consists of music from Gladiator, The Last Samurai, Inception, Batman, GoT, and some other stuff. 6. I set a timer for 25 minutes and start hand copying some copy until I’m ready to write. Some days that’s 8 minutes in. Somedays it’s one minute in. Then I write my daily email. 7. If I feel like it I’ll set another 25 minute timer and write the important stuff that moves the business forward. 8. I go for a run. This is how it is so far at least. I’ll keep you posted on the progress. All I can say is is feels fucking GOOD to be writing properly again. By the way, I’ve been doing all of this in the middle of packing and moving houses. So the fact that I can do it in the middle of that is pretty legit. Also, I'll let ya know when Joshua releases his book so you can get it. Anyways, that’s all for today. Hope you enjoyed it. Talk soon, Ian “write right away” Stanley P.S. I teach the most important morning routine stuff in the [Money Morning Challenge](. P.P.S.
