I'm currently on a flight to Amsterdam and then I'll be taking a train to Berlin once I land. I'm meeting my dad to watch England (hopefully) kick Spain's ass in the final of the Euros. I have some stuff I'd like to write about but frankly I'm a bit too tired at the moment. So I'm gonna do that on the 6 hour train ride tomorrow. For now I wanted to talk to you about something interesting that I haven't written about in a long time... Your Money DNA. And chores...so here it goes... This question, without a doubt, creates more curiosity than any other question I’ve ever asked. Did you get paid to do chores? The second I ask it, people get this look on their face like "what the hell could that possible have to do with my current monetary situation?" Well, the answer is…a LOT. See, everything your parents, teachers, coaches, and role models said and modeled about money is still affecting you. Getting paid to do chores is one the single most common experiences people had as a kid. Especially in Western countries. So what does it mean? It means that as a kid it was engrained in you that you have to do things you don’t want to do in order to get money. Let’s say that again. You learned that you need to do things you don’t want to do in order to get money. Now let’s look at the landscape of the American workforce. 87% of people report that they do a job they don’t enjoy. 87%!!! But that’s not the only thing it teaches you. It also teaches you that you have to EARN your money. That you have to work HARD for it. Now I’m not saying you don’t have to work at all to get money. But you don’t have to work HARD all the time. You don’t have to put in 8-12 hours a day. And YOU don’t have to earn all your money. Your money can actually earn you money while YOU are not working. The problem is that’s not in your Money DNA if you got paid to do chores. You may have some "easy money" come your way but feel too uncomfortable to receive it because you didn’t "earn" it. Or you may have some cash come into your life and then spend it all on things that don’t really matter to youbecause you’re guilty that you didn’t work for it. Either way, it’s affecting you…and probably not in a positive way. Again, I’m not saying having a work ethic is a bad thing. It’s probably gotten you a lot in life. But you need to separate that relationship between hard work and money to truly bring a lot of wealth into your life. Or, if you’re already wealthy, to actually ENJOY that wealth. Think about it…this is just one little piece of your childhood and it’s still affecting you. Imagine how many other issues around you money you may have because of little things that happened when you were growing up. Your Money DNA is real. It’s affecting you whether you want it to or not. Irecommend you figure out your unique Money DNA and how to change it. I create a course called Remove Your Money Blocks that shows you how to change your Money DNA and get rid of your biggest money blocks. I said I'd do a 50% off discount if England beat the Netherlands and they did.... So instead of $47 you can get it for just $23 until Monday. [ Click here to check it out]( I'll talk more about childhood and how it affects your relationship to money tomorrow.
