On this Friday, at 15:30 MT time, a fresh NFP release will be out. NFP is one of the most significant economic indicators for traders. Its data reflects the US economy state and usually affects the USD. NFP is the number of jobs added to the US economy’s non-farm sector during the previous month. Generally, a high reading is seen as positive (or bullish) for the USD, while a low reading is seen as negative (or bearish). The American currency strongly reacted to the inflation and economic growth figures. Now it’s turn of the US labor market indicators to bring volatility to the market. NON-FARM PAYROLLS Forecast: 880K Previous: 850K UNEMPLOYMENT RATE Forecast: 5.7% Previous: 5.9% AVERAGE HOURLY EARNINGS Forecast: 0.3% Previous: 0.3% The US Federal Reserve pays special attention to how many Americans are employed every month — this is what the Nonfarm Payrolls indicator, or NFP, shows. The higher the number, the better for the USD and vice versa. After two consecutive months of disappointing data, the June Nonfarm Payrolls report offered some cause for optimism. Not only were 850K jobs created in the month (vs. 720K expected), but also there were solid revisions to the previous two months. However, unemployment rate increased from 5.6% to 5.9%. The latter made traders think that the Federal Reserve, US central bank, won’t be in a big hurry to decrease monetary stimulus. This made the US currency decline versus other Forex majors. That’s why this time it will be important to monitor all three indicators — Nonfarm Payrolls, Unemployment Rate, and Average Hourly Earnings. If they align, the reaction of the US dollar will be strong. Notice that unlike with NFP and Average Earnings, an increase in Unemployment Claims will limit the advance of the USD.
